  • Pizza Hut is donating proceeds from their evening sales to the Blackhawk Band. You may eat in or have it delivered to qualify. Help the band while taking a break from Holiday cooking.

  • Market Day orders are due. You may order on-line until January 3. Delivery Date is Thursday, January 9 from 3-5 PM.

  • At the PIMBA Championships, the band finished 5th in Class AAA with a score of 81.05

  • Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association (PIMBA) Championships at Norwin HS

  • October 26   
  • At the Bands of America YSU Regional, the band achieved a Division II rating with a score of 63.60, finishing in 18th place.

  • October 26   
  • Bands of America Regional at Youngstown State University - the regional held at West Virginia University has now been moved to YSU! We perform at 10:45 PM. A combo ticket for both prelims and finals is available in the band office for a discounted price of $16. See Mr. Barthen for more info.

  • New Brighton Halloween Parade - 6:30 PM in New Brighton

  • West Allegheny Band competition - The Band finished 1st in Class AAA with a score of 85.85. They won both High Music & High General Effect. All scores were the high scores of the show, regardless of class.

  • Beaver County Band Festival at Geneva College - the show starts at 6:30 PM - tickets are $4 for adults & $3 for students (No student tickets sold at the gate) - tickets are available in the band room

  • Band Boosters will sponsor a 'Flea Market' at the high school. This will help students raise funds for the Florida trip. See the Booster page for more info.

  • Shoe fitting day - the saleman from Midwest Accessory will be here to order shoes.

  • Section practices start - information will be sent home via email & US Mail

  • Summer information packets were emailed to each band student.

  • Color Guard Camp starts - at Highland MS - camps starts at 8 AM. Fundraising orders are also due at this time. Contact the Band Office for more information (leave a message and Linda will get back to you.)

  • Cedar Point - the bus leaves at 7 AM

  • Cedar Point trip - reservation forms are out - they are due with a non-refundable $18 deposit by Friday, May 31. Cost is $43 for students which includes admission to Cedar Point and coach bus transportation.

Alyysa M, Kayla S, Megan C, & Shantal M were selected as alternates.

  • Memorial Day parade in Beaver Falls - report time will be 9 AM - the parade starts at 10 AM (?)

  • BIS 5th Grade Band & Chorus Concert - 7:30 PM in the Blackhawk Intermediate Gym

  • May 21   
  • Spring Band Concert - 7:30 PM in the HS Auditorium. This will feature the 8th Grade Band, Senior High Band, & Jazz Band plus the Indoor Color Guard & Percussion groups

  • May 18   
  • Band Banquet for grades 8-12 at the Monaca Turners (note the change in location) -- The dinner starts at 6 PM.

  • Spring Arts Festival - 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the High School. The will feature a number of HS music groups including the Jazz Band, many student art works, & student dramatic presentations. A reception will be held in the auditorium lobby. The Arts Festival is sponsored the BHS Key Communicators. Contact the HS Office for more information.

  • The Blackhawk and Freedom HS Bands will combine to practice and perform an afternoon concert. THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED!

  • April 27   
  • At the TOB/TIA Chapter 8 Indoor Championships at Blackhawk HS, the Blackhawk groups again had outstanding performances - the Indoor Guard finished 2nd in Scholastic A with a score of 85.2 and the Indoor Percussion finished 1st with a score of 92.0. In addition, the Percussion were awarded trophies for the 'Highest Scoring Percussion Line' and the 'Highest Scoring Scholastic Percussion Line.' Congratulations to both groups on an outstanding year!

  • April 27   
  • TOB/TIA Chapter 8 Indoor Championships at Blackhawk HS - Solo & Ensembles start at 1 PM - Groups start at 3 PM - at this time, over 36 groups registered to compete. Check out all the information at the 2002 Chapter 8 Indoor Championship Page .

  • April 20   
  • Indoor Competition at Brentwood HS - 5 PM start time - the Percussion finished 1st in Scholastic 'A' with a score of 85.3 (a jump of 9.1 points from last week) and the Color Guard also finished 1st in Scholastic 'A' with a score of 82.9 (a jump of 9.3 points from last week). Congratulations to both groups!

  • April 15   
  • The Blackhawk Band Boosters are sponsoring an Italian Hoagie and Cinnamon Bread sale now through April 25. Order forms are available at Band Booster Page .

  • Indoor Competition at Slippery Rock University - The Percussion finished First with a score of 76.2 and the Color Guard finished Second with a score of 74.1.

  • The BHS Jazz Band will perform at the Center HS Jazz Band Festival. Guest for the evening will be Pittsburgh music legend, Joe Negri.

  • April 6-8   
  • All-school Musical 'Annie' - Friday and Saturday - 7:30 PM & Sunday - 2:30 PM

  • March 23   
  • Indoor Competition at Thomas-Jefferson HS - The Color Guard finished First with a score of 77.3 and the Percussion also finished first with a score of 80.7 .

  • Indoor Competition at Carrick HS - Both the Percussion and Color guard finished in First place in their class.

  • Senior High Band and Chorus I.S.O.W. (I'm Sick Of Winter) Concert - 7:30 PM in the HS auditorium

  • March 9   
  • Indoor Competition at Avonworth HS - The competition starts at 5 PM with the Percussion performing at 6:15 and the Color Guard performing at 9:20 PM. Both groups finished in first place in their respective classes.

  • March 8 & 9  
  • Beaver County Band at Beaver HS - the concert is on Saturday at 2 PM. Eighth Grade students participating are: Emily R, Stacey P, Laura W, Melissa H, Laura H, Corey H, Jonathan C, David W, & Jason B. High School students participating are: Maegan H, Nancy C, Robyn D, Mark G, Jeremy B, Zoie G, Andrew P, and Jack K.

  • 8th Grade Band and Chorus I.S.O.W. (I'm Sick Of Winter) Concert - 7:30 PM in the HS auditorium

  • Congratulations to the BHS Indoor Groups who opened their season at Sto-Rox HS. The Indoor Color Guard finished first in Scholastic A class with a score of 63.5. The Indoor Percussion finished 2nd in Scholastic A class with a score of 71.3.

  • Indoor Competition at Sto-Rox HS - the show starts at 5 PM with the BHS Winter Guard performing at 6:30 PM and the Indoor Percussion performing at 9:15 PM. The show is sponsored by the Royal Crusaders.
