The Fin
Alter Ego: Peter Noble
First Appearence: 1941, Daring Mystery #7
Occupation: Navy lieutenant
Costume: Tan bodysuit; cowl with large black shark fin on top (which
may
have made it difficult going through doorways); red boots, holster,
belt;
black trunks; goggles.
Tools and weapons: Magic cutlass which can slice through metal and
bestows the might of 20 men.
Biography: After miraculously living through a submarine disaster,
Lieutenant Noble finds that he can breathe underwater as well as on the
surface, and that he has superhuman strength as long as he is not
removed
from water for more than three hours. Establishing himself as the leader
in a lair of undersea creatures, he discovers the magic cutlass in an
ancient wrecked galley ship and goes to work battling evil.
Comment: This subsea character was created by Bill Everett, the man
responsible for the Sub-Mariner; the Fin had a much less impressive run,
appearing in just three adventures.
