Dear Yoko

Grow Old With Me
~ by John Lennon, 1982

Grow old along with me
The best is yet to be
When our time has come
We will be as one
God bless our love
God bless our love

Grow old along with me
Two branches of one tree
Face the setting sun
When the day is done
God bless our love
God bless our love

Spending our lives together
Man and wife together
World without end
World without end

Grow old along with me
Whatever fate decrees
We will see it throughGod bless our love
God bless our love

Though many people blamed Yoko for the break-up of the Beatles and hated her for it, one thing that cannot be denied was how much John loved his wife. In his career, Lennon wrote numerous songs for Yoko, including: I Want You (She1s So Heavy), The Ballad of John and Yoko, Dear Yoko, Oh Yoko, Woman, Grow Old With Me, and many more.

"She came to the house and I didn1t know what to do, so we went upstairs to my studio and I played her all the tapes that I1d made, all this far-out stuff, some comedy stuff, and some electronic music. She was suitably impressed, and then she said, "Well, lets make one ourselves." So we made Two Virgins. It was midnight when we started; it was dawn when we finished, and we made love at dawn. It was very beautiful."
~ John Lennon

"No one drank like he did. He had broken up with Ono and was with another woman at the time. Suddenly, he just started screaming out Ono1s name. That separation from her almost killed him."
~ Jim Keltner

"The Holsteins were selected because they were meant to yield nourishment, not be slaughtered for it. Ono took care of all the details, and Lennon did not know about the sale of the cows until he read about them in the paper. He was more pleased then surprised. "Only Yoko," he said admiringly, "could sell a cow for $250,000."
~ Jay Cocks's article, the Last Day in the Life

"I remember the simplicity that was so evident in "She's So Heavy," which was about Yoko. In fact, a reviewer wrote of "She's So Heavy," he seems to have lost his talent for lyrics, it1s so simple and boring. But when it gets down to it, when you1re drowning, you don1t say, "I would be incredibly pleased if someone would have the foresight to notice me drowning and come and help me," you just scream. And in "She1s So Heavy," I sang, "I want you, I want you so bad, she1s so heavy, I want you," like that."
~ John Lennon, Jan 1971
