Arica is Chile's most northerly city and is only about 20 kilometres from the Peruvian border. What a contrast with La Paz or Cuzco or any of the other Andean cities that we had just visited.Arica was built in the driest desert in the world, the Atacama. |

This is the beautiful San Marcos de Arica Church. It was designed by Gustavo Eiffel who is better known for the Eiffel Tower in Paris. |
