Salinas was and is still perhaps the best resort in Ecuador. It is about 150 kilometres from Guayaquil. The beaches are pleasant but people usually come for the casinos or the fishing. There were few people when we came because cholera had reached this area in 1991. We stayed at the Miramar Hotel. |

Salinas is famous for sport fishing and hosts every year international deep-sea fishing competitions. This is the place for black marlin and dorados. |
