Valera

Valera

After a 5 hour drive from Merida and about 170 kilometres we finally reached Valera. After all those precipices and those hairpin bends we needed to take a short break.

Valera is one of the major cities in the state of Trujillo. We stayed here longer than expected because a rod holding the right wheel fell off as we came to leave. This gave us the opportunity to visit the city and to do a bit of shopping. We even had time for the famous POLAR beer at a local tavern because we had to wait for someone from Merida to come and fix our car. We stayed overnight at the Camino Real.

Our ride between Valera and Barquisimeto was quite interesting and we had the chance of seeing all kinds of crops. Not only pineapples, but also grapes are grown in this area.
