Gerald D. Wesson

Gerald is Co-Founder and Vice President of Paradise Records and its parent company, New Joy Productions. Artists on this roster include:

    Active in the gospel music industry, Gerald is a member of: the Gospel Music Workshop of America; the Edwin Hawkins Music & Arts Seminar; the Gospel Announcers Guild of the GMWA; and the United Gospel Industry Council. He is also a charter member of the National Bapt. Convention, USA, Inc Music Auxiliary. Additionally he is the Assistant Director of The Tri-State Mass Choir. Gerald also served as a member of the Philadelphia Mass Choir, the Savettes Choral Group and co-founded the Celestial Choraleers of Philadelphia. Gerald has also appeared on the BET telecast of Bobby Jones Gospel as a Vision Awards presenter. Recently he began work as an independent marketing consultant.

    Church Affiliation:

    Deacon Wesson is a member of the First Corinthian Baptist Church of Philadelphia were the Reverend Silas Thomas is the Pastor. Aside from being a member of the Deacon Board, Gerald is also the Worship Song Leader for every 7:45 Sunday Morning worship service, the Church's Assistant Treasurer, a member of the Sunday School and a member of the Evangelism's New Members Adoption Committee. Additionally Gerald assists with the Sunday School and Teen Choirs and serves as an assistant Director of the Thomas Chorus. He also works with the Boys' Basketball team. Since 1989, Gerald has also served as the "Voice of First Corinthian" during the church's Sunday night radio broadcast on WHAT-1340 AM.

    Family Life:

    Gerald is the oldest of the five children of Gladys Pinnix Wesson and the late Horace Wesson, Gerald grew up in the Germantown/Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia. His siblings include:

    Triesse Wesson (Thompson) Laws
    Kyle Wesson
    Darryl Wesson
    Veronica Wesson

    In 1980, while singing with the Philadelphia Mass Choir, Gerald met Cheryl D. Thomas who was also a member of the group. On July 23, 1983, Gerald and Cheryl were married. The couple now resides in West Philadelphia. They are the proud uncle/aunt of:

    Robert Green
    Keith Wesson
    Joel Thompson
    Larry Wesson
    Cherise Wesson
    Krysten Fontroy
    Marquis Wesson
    Tiana Laws
    In addition they are the proud godparents of:
    Kamira Lewis
    Destiny Hudson
    Gregory Murray, Jr.

    Gerald also has two sisters-in-law:
    Karen Thomas-Fontroy and
    Carla Wesson

    He also has one brother-in-law:
    Michael Laws.
