The Galeton Presbyterian Church was founded in 1897. Originally the congregation met in rooms over the
City Drug Store on Main St. In 1900 a new sanctuary and manse were built on Germania St. and remains there today. The Church faces
Centertown Lake and is a much photographed Galeton landmark.
As the physical structure stands as a community landmark, the
congregation throughout the past 104 years has been a pillar of strength to the community. The church family has reached out to serve the
town in many ways. In a successful effort to make Galeton a better place in which to live our members have been active in town government
and civic organizations. The Presbyterian Church initiated a playschool program in 1968 and it continues today. The church organized an Over 50
Club and helped revitalize the town library. Our Christian Education Building serves the community as a meeting place for many organizations
including Girl Scouts and AA. These are just a few activities initiated by the Presbyterian Church.
