Awhile back I joined an email list, "The Jesus Debate". The description indicated that it was open to both Christians and non-Christians and encouraged "lively debate". I joined the list looking forward to the discussions. I lasted several days before the moderator cut off my posting privileges due to a questionable remark I made about Jesus. The moderator is a born again Christian and would not permit any questions *he* considered disrespectful to Jesus.
I believe that the concept of such a discussion group is excellent as long as everyone can openly discuss their beliefs without fear of being censored, by the moderator. For that reason, I have started a discussion group which title is very similar.
Anyone is welcome to join and participate in the real THE JESUS DEBATES. There will be absolutely no censorship by the moderators with regard to anyone's beliefs or questions.
Attempts to convert list members to a particular religion or belief system (proselytizing) will not be appropriate.
The Official List Description
Jesus Christ. Was He a real, flesh and blood person, who was crucified and rose from the dead? Was He a prophet?
Was He the Son of God. Was He created or is He actually God? Was He a myth whose history was created? Was He an imaginary person who grew to be a legend?
Does He live even now, changing the lives of His believers? Is the Bible a trustworthy book to be used as an accurate history of Jesus? Discuss what you think!
