"American Bouquet" portrays a melting pot of herbs used in the United States, with many of the most popular introduced by different nationalities when they immigrated here. Basil and Oregano we thank the Italians for; Horseradish and Dill, the Germans; Rosemary and Sage, the English; Cinnamon, Coriander and Ginger, the Chinese; and Spearmint and Bay, the Greeks. Parsley, Garlic, Scallions, Mustard and Thyme are used in so many cuisines that we are not sure who to thank. Allspice, Chili Pepper and Vanilla were already growing here in our tropical regions when the explorers came.|
