Nationality Gardens

Having experimented with culinary herbs for years in my own cooking, I wanted to share my enthusiasm and find a way to incorporate them into my art work.   But where to begin?   There are so many herbs!   Finally I decided to group them by nationality, since herb combinations in most traditional dishes are very much ethnically driven.
And remember, for a mere pittance any of my works can be yours!
Chinese Herbs
In January of 1994 I began researching, designing and drawing my first 17 herbs, from which I Etched and printed my first 4 nationality groupings:   Italian, French, Chinese and Mexican.   I now have over 60 etching plates comprising more than 40 nationality groupings, such as the one on the right.   Soon I began combining my etchings with Nature Prints, producing nationality bouquets, as above.

Culinary herbs from all 6 inhabited continents are represented in my research.   I use nationality cookbooks as well as herb books and magazines to help in my selection.   A good ethnic cookbook will tie into the history of a country, which helps one to understand how a particular herb or spice may have been introduced.
