well, this cd is certainly better than their first release on roadrunner, but still doesnt compare to their 7 inch. i guess we are gonna have to face the facts, VOD will never sound like their 7 inch again. but what we have now is a new, heavier VOD. what they dropped in melody, they gained in sheer power and heaviness. tim's screams are even more brutal and harsh, and i think the whole damn band got better at their instruments. the production is better, it doesnt sound as produced as their last effort(although the drums sound horrendous at times). all in all a good cd, well worth the money. if you liked their 7 inch, this shouldnt be hard to get used to. if you liked their last cd, you should love this. YES!!!! this disc fucking rocks!!! how can a band be so evil!? what we have here folks is some hard ass metalcore(and i mean metal) that brings tears of joy to my eyes. not one bad song here. tons of double bass, shredding guitars, and the most ungodly vocals ive ever heard. from slow, thick grooves, to blazing fast speed metal, this cd has it all. if you like heavy music, buy this! DYSPHORIA- HOPE WITHOUT REASON (SELF RELEASED) 9 OUT OF 10
another great cd. i love these guys. to start with, these guys KILL live. they are really tight. and they managed to capture that intensity on a cd. thats not easy. 11 songs, plus 3 secret songs that are old demo songs, which rock too, i might add. heavy ass deathcore, that doesnt sound like any other band ive heard. TONS of double bass, crazy dance beats, and some really cool vocals. A+ in my book. (MS)
this is good death metal. hailing from new york, suffocation are as death as it gets. every song is like 3000mph, and the the vocals are super low and evil. none of that high pitched screaming shit that alot of death metal bands try to pull(six feet under, cannibal corpse). the only problem i have with this, is it only has 5 songs on it. didnt know that when i payed $14.99 for it. camelot sucks. (MS)
BOY SETS FIRE- THE DAY THE SUN WENT OUT (INITIAL) 2 OUT OF 10
ummmm....im not too big on this cd. i guess i shouldnt be reviewing this, since im not into this kind of hardcore, but i think this blows. real whiney, and the songs are pretty boring. but, alot of people love this cd, so what the hell do i know. our guitarist, brian, loves this band, but then again he's a dork, so his opinion doesnt count. (MS)
im still undecided about this cd. sometimes i like it, sometimes it gets on my nerves. but either case, this is not integritys best work. first off, i loved humanity is the devil and systems overload. both great albums. but this one just lacks. the songs arent as catchy, and they seem a little rushed, like they were thrown together too quick. there are some good songs, but this cd just didnt impress me. (MS)
goddamn this cd is awesome. another great edison release. i love that label. anyway, acme is insane. words cant describe how heavy this cd is. the singer is crazy. how he can still talk after all that screaming is beyind me. this cd floored me, and still does every time i listen to it. buy it.
i started to review this cd, but i decided to fire up the grill, cook up some hamburgers and hot dogs, smoke some cigarettes, and throw back a few tall boys instead. (MS)
BOMBTHREAT- TONS OF FUN (POTTYMOUTH) 10 OUT OF 10
this band fucking rules. for those of you who arent familiar with BT, they are funniest band i have ever heard. they play a NY style of hardcore, but with some metal thrown in, and its actually alot heavier than most NYHC. as for the vocals, kind like sick of it all, but Dave's voice has more of a harsh, deep sound. 10 songs, all of which are great. titles include "grannies panties", "money butt", "blow me", and "sheetz girl" among others. how can you go wrong with a fat, naked chick on the cover? these guys are really cool live too, with 6 foot inflatable dicks, and blow up dolls flying around the crowd. check these guys out, you wont be sorry. (MS)
IRON MAIDEN- PEICE OF MIND/ THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST (EMI) 10+ OUT OF 10
your wondering why im reviewing this. well, simply because these are the 2 best records ever. period. iron maiden are the kings. the shit. when it comes to early 80's metal, no one does it better. ok, so its not heavy. for christ sake, these were recorded in 82 and 83! this band influenced many a band, ours being one. hail iron maiden. (MS)
ALL OUT WAR- TRUTH IN THE AGE OF LIES (GAIN GROUND) 7 OUT OF 10
this cd wasnt as good as i expected. dont get me wrong, these guys kick ass, but something lacks here. first off, its the death vocals. the singer now uses a 25 ta life type voice, except more screaming. as far as music, heavy as hell. so whats wrong with it? well, 50% of the songs arent very catchy. its weird. every song has awesome guitar riffs, yet something just isnt there. production could be better. cant wait to hear their victory release. (MS)
COALESCE- GIVE THEM ROPE (EDISON) 8 OUT OF 10
if you listen to this the whole way through, you may get brain damage. this cd is loud. and noisy. half the time i cant figure out what they are playing. the singer just goes nuts on this cd, stopping to breath only 2 or 3 times. yeah, i love it. yeah, its something you should get. (MS)
a comp is either good or bad, and this one certainly is good. alot of hard bands here. the stand outs are coalesce, bloodlet, sons of abraham, catharsis, and ascension. oh yeah, new material from each of the bands too. (MS)
damn this band is heavy. out of syracuse, NY(i think), we have another victim. these guys are also sXe. you would have never guessed it either(joke). one thing im not big on is sXE bands preaching on every song. how can you relate evey song to sXe? besides that, this cd is damn good. real heavy dance parts, lots-o-double bass, and some really deep, monstrous vocals. cant go wrong here. (MS)
this cd is scary. i mean, really scary. if you liked their last cd, you should love this. they took their trademark sound, and multiplied it by 10. tons of off time rhythms, demonic vocals, grinding guitars, and then they totally switch it up, going into a soft acoustic part. ive nver heard anything like this. if you have an open mind, pick this up. the artwork is cool too, as always. (MS)
another awesome death metal band. here is broken hope. the are extremely heavy, with super deep vocals, and crazy fast songs. gets kinda boring in some parts, but the songs arent too long. when i first heard this, i thought it had to be a drum machine, but nope, a person. seriously, the drummer is super fast. songs dealing with butt raping jesus, dying a slow death from AIDS, and fucking your dead mother. cmon, you know you want to buy it now. dont forget to take this to sunday school to let your pastor borrow it. (MS)
2 new songs from one of my favorite metal/hardcore bands, plus 2 old songs. both of the old songs now appear on a newer cd, and they are re-recorded and sound even better. the 2 new ones are really cool, but they are kinda diffrent than the usual overcast. dont get me wrong, this cd is awesome, but if you are familiar with overcast, maybe you can relate. as always, the vocals are mean enough to make your ears bleed. totally crazy, screaming death growls that will make you wonder how that sound comes from a human. nice drumming, some cool ass guitar work, and some interesting bass lines that mess well with the guitars. edison recordings, again, puts out another quality cd. (MS)
