Jenny's Review : From San Francisco, CA on 5/5/99

My concert experience began at 3pm, approximately 5 hours before the show was scheduled to begin. I had heard that Live 105 (SF’s best radio station) was interviewing Eve6 and Lit at the Chevy’s restaurant on Van Ness Ave. It being Cinco de Mayo and all I thought that it would be appropriate to go there for lunch and hopefully meet the bands. My brother and I left our suburban home at 3pm and finally reached Chevy’s around 3:45pm. We ordered our food and as I was sitting, gazing out the window…who should walk by but Lit! Yes Lit! They came into Chevy’s and were going to do an interview on the air! There were only about 5 other fans there and so I got to spend a lot of time with the band, not to mention that for some reason they seemed to take a liking to my brother and I. Jeremy, A.Jay, Kevin and Allen are great guys! They are very down to earth and friendly. I couldn’t believe that they actually wanted to talk to me! They had to leave and I found out that unfortunately I had missed Eve6…..they had been interviewed at 3pm, but I wasn’t too bummed for I had made new friends and gotten plenty of autographs and pictures.

We then walked 15 blocks back to the Fillmore. The Fillmore is a very famous theater and it is very small. Many famous people such as Jimi Hendrix for example have played there. We had to sit outside for an hour and 15min. until the doors opened at 7pm. We went inside and it was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. It was very small, but very classy and there were great chandeliers that hung from the ceiling. There were only about 200 people so I was right in the front on the left side! First thing we bought our merchandise. There were a ton of great shirts….I bought two girl baby tees. One said “Tie me to the bedpost…” on the front and “Eve6” on the back and the other was a shirt that was white with blue trim and said “Lit” on the front. My brother got the classic Lit shirt with the dice on it.

The show started promptly at eight. Lit was on first. They played until 8:45pm. I was standing directly in front of Jeremy (the guitarist) and to my great surprise and delight he remembered me and waved! Then he reached down and handed me his guitar pick! They played mostly all songs from their new album with the exception of one that was from their first album. Some were “My Own Worst Enemy”, “Down”, “Miserable” (my personal fave), “Zip-lock” (their new single..check it out!) and more! Their album is called “A Place in the Sun” and I definitely recommend it! Lit is extremely talented and they put on a great show. I loved it when A.Jay asked us to hold on so he could take a shot of Jagermiester! A.Jay liked to dance around and almost seemed to be really into connecting with the audience. I was sad when their set was over. They are incredible!!! There was about a half hour wait in between Lit and Eve6. The anticipation was killing me. Ryan, Eve6’s roadie was the center of attention at this point….he was the closest we could get to Eve6 while we were waiting! It was funny, everyone was cheering for him! Finally at about 8:15pm it was time for Eve6. They opened with “Open Road Song” which got everyone up and going! They played all their songs, most memorable however was “Jesus Nitelite” …..the entire crowd sang louder than Max! It was truly amazing. “Inside Out” made me hysterical as usual, I am always hysterical when I hear them play it live! In my opinion they perform it so well, that it gives me the chills. The guys did an acoustic cover of “I Touch Myself.” Max and Jon were hilarious during this and Max stopped and gave a speech about the fact that “Eve6 doesn’t condone masturbation, we would never engage in it ourselves,” then he proceeded to laugh and run around the stage being all silly! In their encore they played a cover of “Leavin on a Jet Plane” and “Superhero Girl.” The entire concert was even more than I had ever hoped that it would be.

After the show, Lit came out and signed autographs. I was privileged enough to be able to talk to and hug Jeremy yet again and my brother and I had a drink with Kevin! Eve6 didn’t come downstairs after the show and I have a feeling that it was because their friends and family were there….Northern Cali bands! They rock! Well, That was my concert experience, it was amazing, so if you ever have the opportunity to see either Eve6 or Lit…I definitely recommend it!
