1. "Seven Habits of Most Effective People" by Steven Covey
" To Refine your Thought Process and Redefine your Priorities" - Paramesh.
This is a must read book for a person who wants to know about the winning
habits in all fields including profession, family and friends.
2. "Lateral Thinking " by Edward de Bono
Dr. Edward de Bono says "Thinking is a Skill;
it can be developed and improved if one knows how". And in this book he
teaches us how.He also helps us to understand the difference between Thinking
and Intelligence. Read this if you want to be different!!! There is a lot
of the books written by the same author in the fields of Thinking.
3. "You can Win" by Shiv Khera
"Winners don't do different things. They do things
Differently." Thats what the author says and also adds that this book is
not for those who have neither the determination to succeed nor the willingness
to devote the time and effort necessary to achieve success. The experience
of the author speaks in this book.
4. "Godfather" by Mario Puzo
This Novel had a great impact in my approach towards
the use of Power. The Godfather character depicted by the author conveys
a clear message that Life is all about maintaining Contacts and nurturing
relationships. Though the character is feared by all due to its reputation
of killing, the way the Godfather uses his power to achieve his goals is
really new. Look at this sentence uttered by the character when he helps
someone.
" Someday, that day may never
come, I'll call upon you to do me a service...". He creates an Emotional
bank account in every person he meets and ofcourse invests a lot in the
first time itself. He also makes sure that the return on the investment
is available to him when he needs. In doing so he also maintains his personal
pride in it.
Lot more books to come...
Chess:
This is the game I love to play. Not for the fun you get in it but
for the lessons you learn from it. The Tricks you use in it, the Game itself
is a depiction of the real life.Every one in this world is playing this
game against a lot of people around him. Here is my perception of the game:
The Management and the Chess:
The King is generally powerless but also important like a Golden Zero.
Though the value is Zero, it is Gold. Its like a Manager. Then there is
Queen which can do miracles and very powerful. It can change the course
of any thing. So is there a Key player in every team who can singly make
a great impact. the reason for having only one Queen is that the Key player
is always unique. The Next to considered is the Bishops and Rooks, which
move in a single way and is always perdictable. This helps in controlling
a line of attack. These are something like a seasoned players of the Team.
They ca be trusted with the job given to them and when they team up, they
can be formidable. The important property of these players that they can
think any number of steps ahead but ofcourse in only one direction. The
next is the Horse which in all directions and go to be very careful with
this one. Every team has one such person, thinking differently and are
always highly unpredictable. When these people combine together, they control
lot many squares with supporting each other, they are really formidable.
Last but not hte least the Pawns. They are the people who think one step
ahead and do things. If any thing that comes across them and are in one
step ahead, they can recognise and attack or support. These people are
always found in abundance and guess so that there are 8 Pawns in the game.
Its Manager to make use of such people effectively. You can see the seasoned
Chess players never under estimate the power of pawn as they use it in
the supporting role very effectively. Also if the Pawn can suvive when
moving ahead all the seven squares, they turn into powerful players of
above mention cader.
Well, so far it was just about the Chess coins. The next is about the way
you play or considering yourself as a manager the way you manage your resources
to achieve your goal. The thinking process in this management involves
the need for understanding the power of our team or army and also the prediction
of the opponents managing skills and the power of the opponent army/team.
There is a lot of predictable patterns in managing the resources
which has been documented as the best management principles or best chess
strategies. Ofcourse what makes a person successful chess player or an
efficient manager is the type of thinking called as Lateral Thinking (
by Dr. Edward de Bono ) which is a right brain activity of Creativity.
