Mother's Love
A mother's love is
something
It is endless and unselfish
It is patient and forgiving
It believes beyond believing
It is far beyond defining
A many splendored miracle
that no one can explain
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away...
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking...
when the world around condemns
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest brightest gems
it defies all explanation
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation...
man cannot understand
And another wonderous evidence
of God's tender guiding hand.
Helen Steiner Rice
Two older women were sitting on the porch enjoying a summer breeze.
When the first woman asked the second woman,
After several minutes, the first woman began to speak.
"I love the one the most that is gone, until he returns home safely."
"Of all your children, which do you love the most?"
"I love the one the most who is sick, until he is well again."
"I love the one the most who is down,
until he can once again stand on his own two feet."
"I love the one the most who is lost, until he can find his way,"
"I love the one the most, who needs his mother's love."
