THUNDERSTORMS HAVE AGAIN DEVELOPED LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND WILL
CONTINUE THIS EVENING AND THESE STORMS CAN HAVE ENOUGH RAIN TO CAUSE
FLASH FLOODING TO AREAS SATURATED FROM THE RAIN OF RECENT DAYS. RAIN
AMOUNTS THAT EXCEED 0.75 INCH IN 1 HOUR OR 1.5 INCHES IN 3 HOURS WILL
LIKELY CAUSE RAPID FLOODING IN AREAS WITH POOR DRAINAGE AND ALONG SMALL
STREAMS.
THESE STORMS CAN ALSO CAUSE DAMAGING WIND AND LARGE HAIL.
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS FLOODING IS A POSSIBILITY...NOT A CERTAINTY.
IF YOU LIVE IN A FLASH FLOOD PRONE AREA...KEEP A WATCHFUL EYE FOR
PROLONGED HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND FOR QUICKLY RISING WATER LEVELS. BE READY
TO ACT QUICKLY IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED OR A WARNING IS ISSUED.
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.
THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY.
VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO
HIGHER GROUND.
RELAY ANY REPORTS OF FLOODING TO LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS AND
ASK THEM TO FORWARD THE INFORMATION TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.
SKYWARN SPOTTERS SHOULD REPORT MEASURED RAINFALL RATES OF 0.75 INCHES
OR MORE IN 1 HOUR OR STORM TOTALS OF 1.5 INCHES OR MORE.
