...STORM DAMAGE IN PERRY COUNTY DETERMINED TO BE CAUSED BY DOWNBURST
WINDS...
A NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGIST SURVEYED DAMAGE ACROSS
PERRY COUNTY THIS MORNING. THE SQUALL LINE WHICH PUSHED THROUGH THE
COUNTY BETWEEN 730 AND 745 CAUSED WIDESPREAD TREE AND STRUCTURAL
DAMAGE. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT STRAIGHT LINE DOWNBURST WINDS OF F0
TO F1 INTENSITY...APPROXIMATELY 60 TO 100 MPH...REMOVED A ROOF FROM
A HOME IN LANDISBURG AND KNOCKED DOWN AT LEAST A DOZEN LARGE TREES.
SEVERAL TREES WERE ALSO UPROOTED IN NEW BLOOMFIELD. A PORCH WAS
DAMAGED AND A HOUSE WAS PARTIALLY DEROOFED NEAR SHERMANSDALE IN
CARROL TOWNSHIP...AND A NEARBY BARN ALSO SUSTAINED MAJOR ROOF
DAMAGE. A THIRD HOUSE WAS ALSO PARTIALLY DEROOFED IN WATTS TOWNSHIP.
