PMC Forecast Products

We currently offer three Forecasts Products to suit your needs (with the possibility of others being developed in the future).

Our Forecast Coverage Area currently includes only the Middle Susquehanna Valley Region of PA. Please see our page defining the terms we use to describe precipitation and cloud cover in our forecasts. We usually make significant and proper use of the adjectives listed there to bring an accurate forecast to our users, so correct interpretation of the terms will make the forecast seem especially more accurate to you

  • County Weather Outlook (CWO) -- This is the daily forecast issued by us (PMC). It is formatted on a county-by-county basis, with counties grouped together for climate purposes as well as for the effects of a particular storm. There are multiple counties which we have uniquely split into sections to provide more accurate forecasts. This product is usually issued at least once per day... but may be updated twice sometimes. During especially inclement conditions, the the forecast may be updated several times per day to bring you the latest information.

  • Technical Meteorological Discussion (TMD) -- This is a technical discussion of the upcoming forecast, the factors at play, etc. It is intended for internal communication between forecasters, as well as for more meteorologically advanced individuals to read. Like the County Weather Outlook, this product is issued at least once per day... more when needed.

  • Inclement Weather Statement (IWS) -- The IWS is sometimes issued under certain conditions when the weather becomes a threat. Reasons for its issuance may be a threat of severe thunderstorms, heavy rain or flooding events, high wind events, significant fog events, snow and/or ice events, etc. This product is not issued daily, but rather on an as needed basis when conditions warrant.
