Dragon Dream 7/97

While in between awake and slumber,
I saw a vision that seemed so real.
A reptilian eye came into focus,
Studying me as if I were surreal.

Its eye looked me over carefully,
I wondered why I did not fear,
This creature that stood over me,
Engulfing me in its photoshere.

The eyelid flickered up and down,
The pupil searching to and fro,
Yet I lay so very still,
Wondering where this dream would go.

He pulled his head away from mine,
I felt his hot breath on my face.
I reached my arms to touch the beast,
And hold him in a sweet embrace.

He put his head apon my breast,
And into the folds of my gown,
Like a baby who's found his mother,
Nuzzled his mouth gently around.

I held him in a quiet moment,
Not wanting him to depart.
This dragon beast apon my chest!
This dragon beast apon my heart!

All too soon I heard a murmur,
And he abruptly flew away,
As if a silent voice had bid him,
To anothers dream sleep without delay.

And so I return to my slumber,
I still feel his gaze apon my face.
Deep within my mind he lingers,
This dragon dream I can't erase.
