Yule is a widely observed Sabbat, and not only by Wiccans. It celebrates the rebirth of the God, the Sun, and the growing days of the year.
There is also a tradition of the Holly King versus the Oak King. The Oak king would win this battle, he represents the waxing year, then on the Summer Solstice they would battle again, and the Holly King would win.
