History of the Fae

>"Ah, so you have chosen to learn more about our history?" El'Daran asks, grinning. "We have a very interesting history, no doubt!" He pulls a dusty tome from the air and begins shuffling through the pages, blowing dust away as nescessary.
The Fae are a very ancient peoples, some believe they came before humans. Others believe we are brethren, and that someday we will mold back together, then perhaps branch apart again, like a stream in time. Regardless of your beliefs in their origin, they are ancient! In the old days, most people would leave bread, milk, and/or cheese out for the Fae, lest they be robbed! Sometimes, it was believed that if a child died at birth, it had been exchanged for a sick Fae, and that one of the Fae was raising a human. Even today some beleive that changelings exist, and it may be more common then you think. If a Fae were to leave a sick baby-Fae, with the technology of today, it could be saved and grow to live among humans! The Fae are probably most afamed with the story of King Arthur and Merlin, who was supposedly half-Fae. The Fae are often thought of as helpers of things to grow, and it is thought that by giving the gifts, besides not being robbed, you would have a successful crop season. It is easy to see how this culture has thrived and lived throughout the ages....
El'Daran closes the tome, and looks up expectently. "I hope you enjoyed your history lesson. Well, shall we travel back to the main path?" After a quick promise to give more in-depth detail on their ancient history once you are better acquainted with their world, El'Daran points again, revealing a portal back to the main path.
