Pups at Blue Hills Heelers

Blue Hills' First Litter.

Blue Hills Heelers first litter of Blue Heelers (Australian Cattle Dogs) included 5 males and 1 female. Their Dam was Blue Hills Nellie. Their Sire was Blue Hills Tex. Heeler pups are born pure white (except for their masks) and begin to acquire their body color at approximately 4 weeks of age. All our dogs have the "Blue" body color.

This litter by Blue Hills Nellie and Blue Hills Tex included 2 males with a "full mask," 1 male with a "half mask"on the left, 1 male with a "half mask"on the right plus a partial mask on the left, 1 male with no mask, and 1 female with no mask. Heeler pups are born pure white and begin to "color" at about four weeks of age. The photos below show the pups of our first litter at 10 days and at 4 weeks old.

Pup #1 (SOLD) - A male with no mask, a fine example of a typical male Heeler with good conformation and nice personality.

Pup #2 (SOLD) - The only female in the litter, a large pup with no mask, similar in temperament and conformation to the male with no mask but slightly lighter in color. She was the largest pup in the litter, and the strongest. She matured into a large energetic, playful pet and farm dog.

Pup #3 (SOLD) - A male pup with a half mask. Alert to his surroundings, he was an explorer and paid attention to all that was going on around him. He was affectionate and enjoyed being picked up and cuddled and matured into a good ranch dog, with keen intelligence, alertness, and a high energy level.

Pup #4 (SOLD) -
A male with 3/4 mask -- a complete 1/2 mask on the right side and a partial mask on the left. He was a "contented puppy" at all times and enjoyed the company of people. Within the litter, he was usually found sleeping quietly with his face and nose upturned and resting against his mama's side. He became a mature dog of medium size, a family pet.

Pup #5 - SOLD: This full masked male had good conformation, as well as what we saw early on to be the best personality characteristics of both his Dam and his Sire. This pup was always curious and very alert, an indication of high intelligence, the characteristic of his Sire that enabled Blue Hills Tex to learn many words and phrases of human language and to respond to them. Because of his high intelligence, this dog learned many "tricks" for his new owner and is part of a large family with children and other "doggie pals."

Pup #6 (SOLD) - A male with a full mask and a black "dot" in the middle of his forehead. He was the last pup born and was smaller than the others, but by 4 weeks of age, he became one of the larger pups in the litter. Always full of energy, he was also affectionate toward humans and formed a strong attachment to his human owner.

This pup, who was named Blue Hills Duke, has "perfect" markings.
