Feeding Your Hamster
Your hamster will be quite happy to be fed just once each day. The easiest times are in the evening when your pet wakes up. Hamsters are creatures of habit and become used to being fed at the same time each day. No two people agree on what the best hamster diet is, although hamsters will eat anything from fish and chips to rice pudding and custard. To keep your hamster in good health a well-balanced diet is a must.
You can find packages of hamster food mixture in most pet shops. The majority of these are quite suitable and reasonably priced.
Your hamster should have access to fresh water at all times. When a mother is rearing her litter, fresh water is a must. Water is best given in the drinking bottles that are sold in most pet shops. Drinking water that is kept in open bowls is sometimes fouled by your hamster.
Water is a must for pregnant or nursing females. A special diet is not required at tis time, but starchy foods should be avoided because they cause fatness.
