Gina placed the last champagne glass on her tray infront of the man sitting at the table. He smiled warmly at her and she smiled back. Just then she felt a hand touch her shoulder. She turned around and her eyes met a pair of very familar brown eyes. "Hi Gina." AJ said with a smile. Gina felt her knees go weak and she would of fallen back if she wasn't leaning on the table. "You look great." Gina froze not knowing what to do. "Thanks." Was all she could get out. "I really should get back to work." AJ grabbed her arm. It sent goosebumps all over her body. She hadn't felt his touch in so long. She forgot how smooth his skin always felt.
AJ looked deep into Gina's eyes. "I thought we could go somewhere and talk. Maybe get some coffee. Catch up on some things." Gina shook her head. "I can't." She quickly walked back towards the swinging door that led to the kitchen. She stopped and the middle of the kitchen and put her tray down on the counter. She took a few deep breaths. Mario stared at her from behind the grill. "Yo G, you okay cutie?" Gina looked over at him. "Umm...I don't know. I just ran into AJ." Mario's mouth opened. "Oh..well how did it go?" Gina sighed. "Not good." Sarah came from the far back and saw her pale face. "Wow, you don't look to good. Maybe you should go home. Don't worry, I'll pay you for the whole night." Gina smiled. "Thanks. I love you, Sarah." Sarah put her hands up. "Yeah, yeah. Now get out of here before I change my mind." Gina untied her apron and threw it on the tray, grabbed her purse and quickly left.
Gina unlocked the door and stepped in her house. She saw Danielle sitting up on the couch sleeping. Isabelle was lying next to her sound a sleep. Gina smiled at the sight infront of her. She turned off the tv and Danielle stirred a little and then her eyes opened. "Sorry, did I wake you?" Gina asked.
Danielle shook her head and then looked at the clock. "Hey, you're not supposed to be home for another half hour." Gina nodded. "Yeah, I know. You'll never believe who I just saw." Danielle sat up and smiled. Gina sat on the coffee table and faced her. Danielle noticed her expression wasn't very happy. She put her hand on her knee. "Who?" Danielle asked. Gina sighed. "AJ." Danielle brought her hand to her mouth. Gina continued. "It was his party. He had the concert for VH1." "Did you talk to him?" Danielle asked. Gina rubbed her face with her hands. "If you call stammering like and idiot talking then yeah I guess I did. He said he wanted to go somewhere to talk, I froze and ran out of there." Gina sighed and looked down. "God, he looked so good."
Danielle put her hand on Gina's shoulder. "You've had a long night. Why don't you head up to bed?" Gina nodded. "Maybe you should too. You're having trouble just keeping your eyes open." Gina said with a smile. Danielle laughed. Gina got up and picked up a sleeping Isabelle. She whined a little but she got comfortable in her mothers arms. Danielle picked up the little mess that she made and went in to kitchen to throw the trash away. As Gina passed the front door someone knocked on it. It scared her alittle. "What the hell?" She walked over and opened it. For the second time that night her eyes met those gorgoues brown eyes.
"AJ? What are you doing here?" AJ smiled. "I..uh..I asked the cook for your address. I think his name was Mario. Nice guy. He gave me your phone number too." AJ said holding a tiny piece of paper in his hand. Gina sighed. "Remind me to kill him later." She said more to herself then to AJ. AJ's gaze travled back and forth between Gina and the sleeping child in her arms. The door behind Gina then opened wider and Danielle appeared. AJ smiled widely. "Danielle! Hey! How are you?" Danielle smiled. "Fine, AJ. And yourself?" AJ nodded and smiled. "Doing great." Danielle looked over at Gina. "Well, I'll take her from you so you two can talk." Gina looked at Danielle and made the 'Don't leave me' face. Danielle reached for Isabelle and took her from Gina's arms. She whispered, "You'll be fine," Then turned. "Come on, Belle." She said as she walked away with her.
Gina returned her gaze to AJ. "Isabelle's my daughter. I figured you were wondering and I thought I'd save you the trouble of asking." AJ shook his head. "No..I wa..I.." He paused and then continued. "She's adorable." "Thank you." Gina said. "Well," AJ started, "I just wanted to see you. You ran out of there so fast. I've missed you a lot." Gina didn't say anything. AJ lowered his eyes. This wasn't going as good as he hoped. "I'm in town for the next month because we have off. I'm staying with the Carters." "The Carters?" Gina asked. AJ nodded. "Yeah, last year Nick bought his family a house here. It actualy isn't that far from your house. So, me and him are staying there." Gina nodded.
"I thought maybe we could hang out." AJ said. Gina sighed. "I don't AJ. I have al..." AJ interupted her. "Please. I've missed you so much and I know you've missed me too. It can be just as friends. Just you and me hanging out like a pair of old chums. That's all." Gina sighed. "Okay. But I'm usually busy, so.." AJ smiled. "That's okay. We can plan around things." Gina nodded and smiled. "Hey, there's that smile I love. Well, I'll let you get to sleep. I'll call ya tomorrow." AJ turned and walked down the path to his car. He was bursting inside. He had to win her heart back. That will be his goal, to show her how much they need eachother.
Gina stepped inside and closed the door leaning her head against it. What was she doing? There was no way this could happen. If they became close again she would have to tell him. There is no way around. And then they will both get hurt. Gina sighed. But just seeing him again lit something inside her that burned out long ago. She started to walk upstairs. She decided to see where the next month takes her.
