AJ rolled over in the bed and looked at the clock on the nightstand. The bright red numbers read 2:27 am. He had just got in from drinking at some bar down the street. He knew he wouldn't be able to get to sleep for a little while. AJ got out of bed and walked over to the chair next to the window. His leather jacked hung on the back of it. He quickly pulled a cigarette and his lighter out of the pocket and sat down in the chair.
He lit the cigarette and took a few small puffs as his mind drifted off. He thought about having to go home in less then two weeks knowing when he got back he would only have two days left to relax. After this short vaction rehearsal for the second leg of their Black & Blue tour started. He knew it would be a short tour but he hoped it would go quick. He had been wanting to start writing again and he knew he could only put his full mind to it with all these things put behind him.
He moved his gaze out the window and looked at the stars that lit up the sky. It was a beautiful night. It wasn't to hot, it was just right. AJ reached back in his pocket to get another cigarette and pulled out an empty carton. He looked down at the cigarette in his hand, took one last drag and quickly smashed it in the ash tray. He smiled, suddenly thinking of Gina. He figured now was the time to quit this nasty habbit.
He couldn't wait for tomorrow to come so he could call Gina and see her again. He hadn't had a steady girlfriend in about a year. Woman had come and gone because he hadn't felt completely satisfied with any of them. Gina was a different story. He could definetly see himself dating her. For some reason that scared him a little. He had just met this girl and he was already feeling things for her that he usually didn't feel after a few weeks. He sighed as he looked at the clock. He suddenly was feeling tired. AJ crawled back in the bed and quickly feel asleep.
Gina sat in the living room and watched tv. Danielle was in her bedroom getting ready. Earlier AJ had called and asked if they wanted to go to a club. Gina told him they would. She now sat patiently waiting for him to arrive. As she watched Jack act crazy on 'Will & Grace' she heard a knock at her door.
She quickly turned off the tv and got up to answer the door. AJ stood on the other side. He gave her a sexy smile. "Hey. Ya ready?" Gina nodded. "Yeah, but Danielle is still getting ready. Come in and rest a bit." AJ followed her in and sat down next to her on the couch. "I have something for you." AJ said as he reached in his pocket and pulled something out. He then handed it to Gina. She looked down and saw an empty Marlboro carton in her hand. "Wow! Thank you, Alex. Just what I always wanted." She said sarcastically.
AJ laughed. "Let me explain. I smoked my last cigarette today. Hopefully my last anyways. That's the carton that it came from and I want you to have it since you are going to try to help me get through this." Gina smiled and nodded. "Oh I get it. So its like one of those symbolic gifts." AJ smiled. "Yeah. Let me tell you the hell I've been going trhough today. I had a lot of fruit like you said to do, but it doesn't seem to be helping." Gina grabbed his hand and squeezed it tight. "It takes time. You'll get through it."
At that moment AJ just wanted to kiss her and hold her and never let her go. He started to move closer but he was interupted by a voice. "Okay, I'm ready." He looked up and saw a smiling woman standing by the coffee table. Gina stood pulling AJ up with her hand. "AJ, this is my best friend Danielle." AJ extended his hand out and shook Danielle's. "Nice to meet you." Danielle smiled warmly. "Same here." AJ held onto Gina's hand again. "Ready to have some fun?" Gina asked them. They both nodded and they made their way out of the apartment and to AJ's car.
AJ stood from the table and looked down at Gina. "I'm heading over to the bar. You want anything?" Gina shook her head. "Nah. I think me and Danielle are going to make our way to the dance floor." AJ nodded. "I'll meet you out there in a bit." Gina smiled, then her and Danielle walked onto the dance floor. They danced on the crowded dance floor to a techno song that pulsated throughout the club.
AJ placed the empty beer bottle back on the bar and turned his body towards the dance floor. He watched as Gina moved her body to the music. He couldn't tear his eyes away. She was gorgeous. He watched as some guy start to move closer to her and Danielle. He saw him smile at Gina and he said something to her. Gina just continued to smile at him again and quickly looked back at Danielle. The guy started to dance closer to her and he placed his hand on her shoulder. AJ's stomach turned. Who the hell does this guy think he is? AJ thought.
He quickly walked onto the dance floor towards Gina. "Hey! I was wondering when you were going to come join us!" Gina yelled over the music. AJ smiled at her. He looked up and saw the guy move his hand off Gina. AJ gave him a dirty look as he wrapped his arms around Gina's waste. AJ smiled widely as the guy bit his lip and quickly walked to the otherside of the dance floor.
Gina leaned her head and whispered in AJ's ear. "Thank you for saving me." "From what?" AJ asked, although he knew what she meant. "From that guy that was just here. He was giving me the creeps." "Yeah, I was ready to punch him." Danielle added. AJ smirked. "No problem." Gina smiled and then continued to dance along with him and Danielle.
