~Chapter 10~

A week went by since the night Danielle ate at the Littrell house. Brian and Danielle hadn't done anything since but they called each other almost everyday and talked for at least two hours on the phone about nothing in particular. One night they got into a conversation about her writing and somehow he had gotten her to read him some of her poems. Brian never heard anything like them. He thought they were amazing and he knew she had to get them published. She just smiled and told him "Thank you."

Now, a few days after that, Brian walked through the supermarket looking for the numerous items his mother had listed on a pice of paper. He walked down the isle with all the fruit and pulled a plastic bag off its wheel. He then walked over to the apples and picked some out and placed them in the bag.

"Brian, hey!" Brian looked up and saw Gina standing next to him. Brian smiled. "Hey Gina. What's up?" Gina shrugged her shoulders. "Just shopping. How are things with you? I hear you leave soon, huh?" Brian nodded. "Yeah which sucks, but I am missing being on the road." "You and Danielle are pretty close now." Brian nodded, not really knowing what she was getting at.

Gina continued to smile. "So, have you realized you having feelings for her yet?" Brian was supised, not at her bluntness but at the fact that she knew. For some reason he felt comfortable talking to her about it. "Does, everytime I look into her eyes I'm at a loss for words because they are just so beautiful and everything about her is amazing, count for anything?"

Gina's eyes grew wide. "Man, you got it bad. I just thought you maybe thought she was cute. Are you in love with her?" Brian nodded and quickly looked down. Gina sighed. "I know she has to feel the same way about you." She told him. Brian shook his head. "Not likely. She has Richard remember?"

Gina rolled her eyes. "Jackass. I hate him." "You hate him?" Gina nodded. "Yeah, we don't get along at all. He thinks he is so much better then everyone else and he treats Danielle like dirt." "Then why is she with him?" Brian asked as he placed the bag of apples in his cart. Gina sighed. "Don't tell her this but I think she is just in love with being in love. I think she thinks she can't find anybody better and she doesn't want to end up lonely. What scares me most is I know if he asks her to marry him she'll say yes even though she doesn't want to marry him."

Brian bit his lip as Gina spoke. "Well what should I do?" "Tell her how you feel. I know she'll realize how she feels for you." Brian sighed. "But its to complicated. You don't understand." Gina nodded. She saw the pain in his eyes. She felt like she almost coudn't bare it. "I know it is, but you still deserve each other." She looked down at her watch. "I have to go. I'll talk to you later, okay?" Brian nodded. "Okay, and thank you." Gina smiled. "No problem."

Danielle stepped into her apartment and set her purse down on the couch. She saw her answering machine blinking and she reached over and hit the button. The first message was from her dad. The second was from Gina. Usually getting messages from Gina was a normal thing, but what Gina said and how she said it sounded strange. "Danielle, it's Gina. I ran into Brian today and we got to talking. I think you should talk to him about some things. Call me later. Love ya lots. See ya." Danielle stood in the middle of her living room looking at the answering machine. What was that all about?
