Danielle picked up a few bobby pins and stuck them in her mouth as she pulled back her hair into a french twist. A few stray peices fell and she pulled a bobby pin out of her mouth and stuck it in her hair. The phone rang and she groaned as she reached for it. "Yeah?" She asked as she pulled out the bobby pins from her mouth. "Where are you? You were supposed to be here and hour ago?" The familar male voice asked on the other end. "What? Where am I supposed to be?" She asked.
Danielle leaned her head to the side and held the phone to her shoulder as she pulled the rest of the fallen hair back. "Here, at my mothers for dinner. It's her birthday, remember?" Danielle sighed. "Richard, what the hell are you talking about? I have my reunion tonight." Richard groaned loudly. Danielle rolled her eyes. "Don't even start with me. You knew about this for two months. It's not my damn fault you never listen when I talk." Danielle said. "I listen to you." Richard stated in his defense. "When? While we are having sex? You remember everything I say then. Maybe thats when I'll tell you important things."
"My mother is going to be upset." Richard said, changing the subject. "I don't care! She hates me anyway. You'd think she'd be glad." Danielle shot back. She looked at the clock. "Look, I gotta go. I have to pick up Gina. I'll call you tomorrow." With that, Danielle hung up the phone.
"It was good seeing you." Brian smiled politely at the three women. They turned and walked away. Quikly his smile fadded. He didn't speak more than two words to any of those girls. They considered him a geek in highschool. He knew they were only talking to him now because of who he was. He sighed, wondering if coming back was the right thing to do.
Soon that thought disappeared when he saw Danielle sitting at a table talking to Gina. He had saw her as soon he came but she was talking to a group of people he didn't know and he felt stupid going over. Brian started to walk over to her but a few guys stopped him to talk.
Danielle slumped down in her chair. Gina sat across from her at the table. "You don't need him. He's a conceided prick." Gina said to Danielle. Danielle smiled slightly. "You only say that because you two don't get along." "Don't get along? More like flat out hate each other." Gina said. Danielle laughed. "I'm serious, Danielle. Get rid of him." Danielle just sighed. Gina moved her chair closer to her. "You know what you need? A little fling. Like something wild on the side!" Gina said with a huge smiled on her face.
Danielle slapped her on the arm. "Gina! I could never! You're bad!" Gina rubbed her the spot on her arm that Danielle hit. "You should. Besides, you said yourself Richard doesn't care about your social life. He would never know." They were both silent for a moment. Gina knew Danielle was running it through her head.
A big smile appeared on Gina's face as she stared ahead. "A very possiable contestant is coming this way." She said. Danielle looked up and saw Brian making his way over. Danielle looked back at Gina. "A fling with Brian?" She asked. Gina nodded. "Just think about it, that's all." Brian stepped up to the table. "Hello ladies." He said sweetly. Danielle smiled at him. "Hi Brian. You remember Gina." Brian smiled at Gina. "Yes.Hello." He said. "Hi Brian." Everyone was silent for a moment as Brian pulled out a chair. Gina stood. "Oh there's Loretta. I should go say hi." Gina quickly walked over to the other side of the room leaving Brian and Danielle alone.
"I wanted to say hi earlier but it seemed like we both were surrounded by people." Brian said. Danielle nodded. "I know. It looks like you're Mr. Popular." Danielle said. Brian smiled. "Yeah, only if it was like that back then." Danielle laughed. "I know really."
The first few chords of "Tonight and the rest of my life" began to play. Danielle smiled. "You still owe me a dance. Fast...or slow." She said, just like Brian had done the day before. Brian blushed a little and stood. He reached out his hand for her and lead her to the dance floor. Brian placed his arms around her waste as Danielle wrapped her arms around his neck.
Brian could smell her hair as they swayed back and forth. He looked down at her as she smile up at him. "You know, I considered you one of my good friends all though we never hung out outside of school." Brian told Danielle. "Really?" Danielle asked. Brian nodded. "Yeah. I told you some things that I never even told my best guy friends. I even cried infront of you, remember?" Danielle nodded. "Yeah."
"Hey Brian. I just took this hard Chemistry test. I really hope I did good. I think I did, but I don't know." Danielle said as she walked up to her locker and turned the wheel on her lock. She looked up at Brian when she got the lock undone. His head was up against his locker facing it. "Bri, you alright?" He shook his head and met her eyes.
Danielle could see a few tears fall. "Samantha broke up with me this morning. What the hell is wrong with me? Why do I do this to myself?" Danielle shook her head. "Nothing is wrong with you. She's an idiot for not seeing how wonderful you are." Danielle pulled him in for a hug. Brian layed his head on her shoulder as he cried. They were so close Danielle could feel his heart beating. How stupid could Samanthat be to break up with him? What she would have given just to be with him?
Danielle snapped back into the present when Gina was tapping on her arm. "Not to interupt you guys, but Danielle I'm gonna head home. John's coming to get me." "Are you sure? I can take you." Gina shook her head. "No, its fine." "Okay. See ya." Gina smiled. "Bye." Danielle watched as Gina turned and walked away.
Danielle returned her gaze back to Brian. "This is pretty boring. Do you wanna maybe go back to my house to hang out for a bit?" She asked, suddenly feeling stupid afterwards. She felt relieved when she saw a smile appear on Brian's face. "Yeah. I'd love to."
