In this edition we are introducing a humble, warm-hearted Shri Krishen Murari Agrawal who is one of the trustees and also the chairman of the Pranic Healing Foundation of Delhi.
He studied in the Colonel Brown’s Cambridge School in Dehradun. His father was an engineer in the Central Government. The indifferent treatment at school, the rampant discrimination and the feeling of being singled out sowed the seeds of rebellion in young Agrawal. Later he joined the medical group in Lucknow Christian College, similar behavior crystallized his feelings against the British and he joined the movement fighting for the rights of his fellow Indians. He was expelled from the university for taking part in satyagraha movement.
Mr. Agrawal moved to Allahabad and joined active students politic in 1942. Inspired by Gandhiji he organised several dharnas and processions against the British. His younger brother, J M Agrawal, a young lad of 16 also joined him in the freedom struggle in Delhi. Mr. Agrawal was arrested in 1944 under Defence of India Act in Delhi and later sent to Ferozepur jail. After his release from the jail in 1944, he joined Congress and soon became the vice-president of New Delhi Congress committee. His wife, Smt Vimla Agrawal, a social worker, actively involved herself in the freedom struggle. During his tenure with the Congress he worked in close association with eminent leaders such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Maulana Azad, Rafe Ahmad Kidwai and Sardar Patel.
After independence, Mr. Agrawal left politics and worked for CSIR and Department of Science and Technology. He retired from the Steel Authority of India as the General Manager and started Homeopathic Dispensary at Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Swami Rama of Himalayan International Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy, USA gave him the alphabets of Yoga Nidra, a technique of deep relaxation in which one learns to unwind consciously, for absolute relaxation.
The complete technique of Yoga Nidra from Swami Satyanand Saraswati of Bihar School of Yoga & later started propagating Yoga Nidra at the Sri Aurobindo Center of which he also is the secretary. His association with Pranic Healing started some time in 1993-94 when he did his Basic Pranic Healing course. Ms Cynthia and Mr. Rommel conducted the course; both had come from Philippines. In those days there were not many local people who could offer training in Pranic Healing, therefore teachers used to come from Manila. He says “Mr. Krishnan Veerappan came to me with an idea of having the Delhi chapter of Pranic Healing registered as foundation. We two signed all the documents and Krishnan got the Pranic Healing Foundation registered. Krishnan was the executive director and I was the chairman and later other trustees were inducted”.
Mr. Agrawal along with a group of seven, which included Mr. Krishnan Veerappan, Mr. Kunhikrishnan, Mr. Sushil Gupta, Ms Veenu Nagar, Ms Thankam and Mr. Vishwanathan, went to Manila to take Arhatic and other courses from Master and some of his colleagues. “ It would be interesting to note that initially for the first time the healing by Ms Cynthia and Mr. Rommel (who came from Philippines) and other Pranic healers started at my Homeopathic Dispensary at Sri Aurobindo Ashram,” he says and then adds, “at that time the healing was done free”. Due to heavy rush, the venue had to be shifted to its present location in Sri Aurobindo Center. Since then it is growing by leaps and bounds and has acquired its present stature. Mr. Agrawal expresses his good wishes, sweet remembrance for the old team of Pranic Healers and good wishes to the future of the Pranic Healing Foundation of Delhi.
