Magic of the Staffs

New stuff is in blue.

Story

The game starts off with a prologue about the story which is about two races in a war dealing with magic and staffs. You play as Duncun, the main character. You go off with you're friend to another town when you find a pendant and ride in a boat to another town. The new demo isn't as long as the first. It is about twenty minutes more than the first beta. But hey it's a beta. First I have to say that the story is pretty stereotypical. But most RPG Maker games are so I can't say anything about that. Second I must say that the demo was fairly good and third I really do like the last scene. It was pretty cool with the music and all. Okay for story, like I said it's pretty stereotypical. After you come out of the third town, Lumi, the cutscene had pretty bad dialogue for an event like that. It should be more dramatic. The last scene, I must say, was really, really, good. Good dialogue and awesome music. New rating is B.

Music and FX

Some music I recognized but there was some I couldn't make out. The sound was very good from the door closing to the crickets at night. The music is alright. It's just I heard a few rip off music. Nothing that bad though. But the empire song is really good because it's actually a sound not an midi giving it a more realistic feel. A B rating.

Graphics

I was really impressed by how the faces of the characters were used. It made me understand the character more by looking at the face. I was also impressed by the tile placement. It seems that Falcor knows how to make maps. I liked the town design and the inside of buildings as well but the only flaw was the cave map. The graphics are pretty much the same as before, good. It has nice tile placement. I like the apple orchard! :) Rating A-

Gameplay

The gameplay was alright. I wasn't actually hooked on playing but it's good to try out other games. The story weakened the gameplay because the story was so simple. The battle system wasn't all that good because the magic you learn for the main character takes more MP than you have. The new signs for items is pretty confusing at first because it doesn't show which sign belongs to who. I know Falcor posted it on the updates section but he should go over it in the game. New rating C

Overall

It's pretty much the same except for the last few cutscenes which are pretty cool. New rating B.

Grading System

A= This is the best game I've ever seen and played on RPG maker 95! This game can go far!
B= This game is pretty good, not many errors, music is original, and story is excellent
C= An average game but can be fixed up
D= Don't even try playing this game unless you want to see a game with a stupid story, rip off FF3 music and no character development at all
F= A game this stupid doesn't need a review, it needs a miracle
