Welcome to the new home of Liz-Clare kennels! As you can see, our new home for the poms is C-shaped. The left wing is the girls', and the right the boys'. In the center is my office and the puppy room.

Here is a closeup of the crates our poms are kept in. (They also have free time in the kennel building and house time). Each pen is 4 x 7 ft and keeps 2-3 poms (I find they love company), 1-2 jacks or one cocker. They're attached through a closable dog door to a 7 x 8 outdoor pen, on pea gravel to keep parasites out. Each crate has an assortment of toys, blankets and beds to keep the poms cozy, although, as you can see, they often have a mind of their own when it comes to interior decorating! (Note the snake toy halfway out the door!)

Here is a view of the girls' wing from farther away.

Here is a view of the outdoor 7 x 8 runs. As you can see I try to plant (safe) flowers, bushes and trees near the crates to provide shade and scenery. The poms also rearrange their furniture and I also have to fetch pillows and toys inside at the end of the day!

Here is the nursery room, which doubles as a room for boarders to be bred to our boys . Each mom, with her pups, gets her own 4 x 7 ft pen, complete with blankets, toys, beds, and heating lamp (for pups), and her own 7 x 8 ft outdoor run. The run is closed when the puppies are young and when a mom is near the time to whelp so we don't get any little 'uns outside! We generally have only one litter at a time to provide extra one-on-one socialization time, however we have space to keep up to 3 bitches with pups, or 3 visiting bitches, or a mixture of both. All in all the kennel can hold about 30 bitches and 15 dogs, although we don't ever have that many! I find it is always best to be prepared with extra space, though, as not every dog will get along with its intended roommate.
