Chapter 2

"Are we there yet?"

"I'm hungry."

"I haveta go to the bathroom."

You would've thought I was driving on the turnpike with a group of pre-schoolers, but no, I was driving with my four best friends who had just graduated from high school. "We're almost there," I said. "You can wait."

"We're not almost there, we're still on the turnpike!" yelled Yasmine.

"Okay, I lied. But, we've stopped 5 times and this is only a four hour drive!"

"But I gotta pee!" she yelled.

"Fine," I said and pulled over. "There's the woods."

"I can hold it."

"I thought so."

Soon we turned off the turnpike and turned onto the long road that lead to Hawthorn Mansion. Soon the mansion came into view. It was huge, and around it were some of the most beautiful flower gardens I'd ever seen. We pulled into the parking lot and went inside to the reception desk. We were greeted by a young blonde woman.

"Hello, I'm Tiffany," she said. "Your names?"

"Natalie Merchant."

"Hey, you died your hair!" she said.

"No, I'm not the singer."

"Yes you are. I saw you on the Lilith Fair last summer. Aside from the hair, you look exactly the same."

"Where were your seats?"

"Second level lawn."

That explained the resemblance. Second level lawn at Starlake Ampitheater is parctically a mile away.

"Can I have your autograph?" Tiffany asked.

"Sure," I said. There was obviously no telling this girl that I wasn't the singer Natalie Merchant, so I decided to play along.

"Thank you so much! What are the rest of your names? Sarah McLauchlan?"

"No. I'm Nadine Kiger."

"Yasmine Johansen."

"Erica Anderson."

"Alyse Long."

Tiffany checked a book. "Alyse and Yasmine, you have room 211. Nadine and Erica, you have room 210, and, Natalie, you have room 209."

"Do I get my own room?"

"No," Tiffany said, "you'll be sharing a room with another girl about your age."

"Oh," I said. We then got our bags from the car and went to our rooms. When I got to my room, a tall girl with red hair was sitting on one of the beds.

"Hi, I'm Rose," she said.

"I'm Natalie."

"So, what made you decide to come here?"

"Me and some of my friends are taking a trip before we go to college. You?"

"I'm here with my brother Austin. Our parents sent us here so that they could have "privacy" for a week. Austin's 27. I'm 19."

"Oh. I'm 18. Well, do you want me to introduce you to my friends and then we'll go to orientation, and you can intorduce us to Austin?"

"Okay," she said, and we went to Erica and Nadine's room, then we went to Alyse and Yasmine's room, then we all went downstaris to the living room for orientation.

"There's Austin over there," Rose said pointing across the room to a male version of herself, a tall guy with red hair grown a little past his ears. Austin was talking to five other guys that looked familiar to me.

"Rose, aren't those guys talking to Austin 'NSync?"
