Chapter 1

"It might sound like an impossible thing to do, but I'll never let go of you. You went away, but in my heart you're here to stay. Perfect in every way, I'll see you again someday. Because what we had was special, or at least I'll always think so. And I hope that you do to. Because in my mind and heart I'll never let go of you."~4Real (Yes, that's a fictional band. Lyrics by Megan K*****. Yes, that's the writer of this story. I'm multitalented...psych!), "Never Let Go Of You"

Lance's first call was to Joey. Out of everyone, Lance had kept in touch with Joey the most, so he seemes like the logical first person to call. After a few rings, Joey picked up the phone.

"Hello?" he said in a sleepy voice.

"Hey, Joey," said Lance.

"Lance?"

"Yeah. You sound tired."

"Late night."

"Isn't every night a late night for you?"

"Well, yeah, but..."

"Get any?"

"Don't I always?" said Joey, and Lance chuckled.

"Listen, I had an idea," said Lance.

"You want me to fix you up with someone? Good, it's about time. I know this fly chick who would be perfect for you. When do you wanna come out to Florida?"

Lance had to chuckle again. "No. That's not it. Actually, I was gonna invite you to come out to Oklahoma. I'm gonna try to get everyone from Hawthorn back together for a week or so."

Joey was silent for a moment. "You mean like Yasmine and everyone?" he finally asked.

"Yeah. You and Yas are on cool terms, aren't you?"

"Yeah. I was just makin sure we were on the same wavelength."

"Okay. So do you wanna do it?"

"Yeah, sounds like a great idea."

"How's July 15th to the 21st sound?"

Joey thought for a moment. "That's in like two weeks, right?"

"Yeah. Can you make it?"

"Yeah. Sounds good."

"See ya then man."

"You too," Joey said and they hung up the phone.

Lance then proceeded to call everyone else from the group. Everyone seemed to like the idea, and they were excited about a chance top get to see each other again.

Other than the group that was at Hawthorn, there would also be a couple other people coming to Lance's ranch on July 15th. Justin's new wife Nicki, JC's wife Rachel, and Alyse's husband Ryan would be coming along with Erica and Chris's baby, Zachery, because he had just been born two months ago, and they didn't want to leave him with Chris's mother with the rest of their children.

The only person that Lance wasn't able to get in touch with was the person that he wanted to get in touch with most, Natalie. He didn't have her address or phone number, and no one else that he talked to had it handy either. Only Nadine thought that she might have it somewhere, but even she wasn't positive. She had promised to look and get back to Lance later that evening...

That evening Lance sat watching TV with his golden retriever, Hanz, by his side. He was watching Total Request Live on MTV and thinking about the old days. Not to mantion that he made sure to sit in the chair right by the phone, but ya know...

Things hadn't changed with TRL in six years. Boy bands were still mixed in with hard rock groups who were mixed in with slutty pop starlettes. Yup, it was just like the olden days. As Lance watched the video for the latest boy band, 4Real's song "Never Let Go Of You", he thought about how similar they really were to *NSYNC, the Backstreet boys, and the other boybands of his day.

"It might sound like an impossible thing to do, but I'll never let go of you," sang 4Real's lead singer, Colin. He was nearly a splitting image of Justin, and because of this he was the favorite out of the group, not that this surprised anyone.

Then the rest of the band chimed in with the chorus. "You went away, but in my heart you're here to stay. Perfect in every way, I'll see you again someday. Because what we had was special, or at least I'll always think so. And I hope that you do too. Because in my mind and heart I'll never let go of you."

And then, in perfect Justin fashion, Colin's voice was heard once again singing the title line to close the song. "I'll never let go of...youuuuuuu...of...youuuuuu."

The cheers of the studio audiance drowned out the music, and the host of TRL, Morgan Taylor, started talking. "That was 4Real with their hit 'Never Let Go Of You' which has now been number one for over a month. If you at home aren't happy about this, there's only one thing you can do about it, and that's to get your lazy buts off the couch and go on the internet and vote at.."

Knowing the program was over, Lance turned off the TV. The words and melody to "Never Let Go Of You" were now stuck in his head. The more he thought about them, he realized that this song described how he felt about Natalie. He knew that he'd see her again someday, he just felt it in his heart. If God didn't give him a second chance with her, he didn't know what he'd do. He couldn't live without seeing her again, he just couldn't...

~*~*~

Two hours later Lance still was asleep in the chair in his living room when the phone started ringing. He was awakened with a jolt.

"Hello?" he answered the phone.

"Lance? It's Nadine. I got the number."
