Chapter 9

"You gotta get serious...Perplexin as I wercks the decks...Second time around, better then the first...Get serious, we got it goin on tonight. Get serious, everything will be alright...Could I be the one that twists?...Get serious."~5ive, "Serious"

"That wasn't so bad," Natalie said to Lance on their way back to the house. "I'm probably gonna have nightmares for the rest of my life, but that's okay."

Lance laughed. "When we get back to the house we'll tell the others of course, but then we'll have to all swear each other to secrecy."

"This so feels like I Know What You Did Last Summer," said Natalie. "Except we didn't kill them."

"You really think that?" asked Lance. "You think that it's someone other than the people staying here?"

"Well, no," said Natalie with a scared look in her eyes. "I mean it wasn't one of us." She made a motion with her hands pointing to her and Lance.

"Yeah," said Lance. They reached the back door to the house and went inside. Everyone at the table looked up at them as if asking if it was what Natalie had been so worried about. Lance nodded.

"Oh my God," said Erica. "I'm leaving with the baby on the first flight out of here." She started standing up to go pack.

"Wait!" said Lance sitting down. "You can leave if you want, but we all need to have a discussion first."

Erica cautiously sat back down.

"Okay," said Lance. "Here's the thing. Natalie and I got rid of the bodies because we didn't want the cops to get involved. No matter what happens, we all need to vow never to tell a soul other than the people in this room about anything that has happened or may happen."

The people that were sitting around the table looked at each other. Slowly they sarted to nod their heads in agreement.

"Good," Lance said. He got up from the table and got a tablet out of one of the kitchen cabinets. At the top of the page he wrote "Our lips are sealed."

"Pass it around and sign it," Lance said writing his name and then passing the tablet to Natalie. She signed and then passed it to Nadine. Slowly, the tablet made its way around the table and back to Lance.

"Thank you all," he said.

"Okay, now I'm out of here," said Erica. "Good bye you guys. It was nice seeing you all again."

"Bye," everyone said.

"Does anyone else want out now?" Lance asked.

"We do," said Josh as he and Nadine stood up. Alyse and Ryan also stood up.

"No, I'm staying," Nadine said to Josh.

"No you're not," said Josh. "I don't want you getting killed.

"You don't control me," said Nadine. "I'm staying. If it gets too bad I'll leave."

Josh sighed and went down the hall to his room. Alyse and Ryan followed him.

"So it's just the eight of us now," said Lance looking around at Natalie, Chris, Justin, Nicki, Joey, Yasmine, and Nadine.

"We better play this smart," said Chris. "Okay, who remembers those rules for scary movies?" he asked only half joking.

"Don't go in the woods," said Nadine.

"Too late for that one," Yasmine mumbled under her breath.

"The only other one I can remember is don't have sex with a virgin," Natalie said, "but I don't think we have to worry about that one, do we?" She looked around at the people at the table. She saw everyone shaking their heads until she looked at Lance who was nodding.

"Really?" she asked him softly.

"Yeah," said Lance.

"Okay then," said Natalie looking away. "That rule was the person who has sex with the virgin is gonna die, right?"

"Yeah," said Joey. "But another part of that rule was that virgins can't be killed. If they loose their virginity, they have the same odds as everyone else."

"Oh, and no one go anywhere alone," said Justin. "That's just straight up stupid at this point."

Everyone nodded in agreement.

"Well, it's getting late," said Lance. "We better be getting to bed, and I hope to still see all of you in the morning."
