im not saying that any of the members are but i think the song is about someone who is gay and realizes he hates it. the lyrics seem to fit..look "loving the thrill (knows he doesnt want it but loves it anyway)...fucking you is strange but adored by me throughout(a lil self explainatory there)...rolling dice and seeming queer(hes taking his chances by beig himself when everyone else thinks hes sick for being gay)...bastard love(everyone thinks its wrong)...a sick affair(ditto from before)..lets see what new disease youll fetch(straight people have deseased too but gays are heard more bout them)...this hate of mine exploded(he hates his lifestyle but cant change and is gonna go crazy) im sorry if you disagree or if i upset you in any way (dont ask how i would do that but if by some odd chance i did) i am truly sorry but this is just my opinion on the song

I had a conversation about this song and it was suggested that Jay wrote this about Amir. That in it he is looking up to Amir and also is sort of jealous of him. Anyone have anything to add?

ok, i heard that this song is about a transvestite, but i'm not no transvestite...let me now tell you waht this soulful song means to me..... i feel like that there will always be some1 who will know me well and be there for me when i need them. and i feel like if u won't be ur true self, u won't find the right friends and show who u really are. the right friends are the friends who will respect who u are w/ ur style, attitude, and personality.

Another song I have not seen interpreted - and my favorite Orgy song, by the way. Is this a coincidence? We'll see. I have been told that others have found this to be a very positive song - on the level of The Wind Beneath My Wings, because of the repetition of I could be so like you - it is written to someone one looks up to. (Sorry, I know that construction is weird, but I'm trying to avoid putting words in Jay's or anyone else's mouth.) I like that interpretation. I like anything anyone says that's positive about their music. They have tremendously positive affects on people. But I don't buy that one myself. I'm interested, as usual, in who the I and the you and the they are in this song. It seems that there is a distinction being made between the I and the you that the they doesn't see. And that the I in the final verse is telling the you to give up on making distinctions, just merge with the I. But the I can't be or merge with the you, it can only be like the you. Why on earth are they doing all this Lacanian manipulation? I don't see what all those distinctions are about. Again, there is so much covering up going on that you really can't see clearly which emotion is being discussed in this song. Any more insights?

actually, i tend to think of this song as a movie summary. every time i hear it (which is quite often, it's one of my favorites) i cannot help but imagine jay as a jealous ex-lover (or something to that effect) who is well, kidnapping his ex-girfriend. it's just got that suspensful, edgy, all around kindappish feel to it. and the lyrics "tell them all/she's gonna be gone gone gone/just listen to me" definitly have the ransom note touch to it. i gotta say, a video for that song would ROCK.

Song: Fetisha
(added 6/3/99)
I think Fetisha is more about someone
that is trying to fit in with a certain
crowd and is losing themselves because
of it and is maybe trying to get out of
that life style. Like the part "it's
getting bigger like you used to be"
it's like she can't handle it anymore.
And the part "leaving your new found
cool, what will you do sick one oh no"
I'm taking that as she succeeded in this
"group" but now wants to be herself
again and will no longer be "cool" to
these people and then he say's "tell
them all she won't be back, ect." and
"she will always know me" I think he's
saying I'll always be there for her,
she's my friend. Well blah blah blah I
think you guys know where I'm going with
this? But this is one of those weird
songs, at different times I've gotten
different meaning from it, like at one
point I thought it was about drugs,
another time I thought it was about a
drag queen or something along those
lines. But that's what I like about
Orgy, they make you really look at things
and I don't think there's one "right"
answer I think their songs are written
in a way that each of us can come up
with our own meaning and can somehow
relate. Well what do the rest of you
think?

Song: Fetisha
(added 6/3/99)
Let's start with a bang. How about Fetisha? We spent ages trying to figure out they lyrics, but then never talked about what they meant! And I was just told (paraphrasing) that Jay said the only bullshit and lies concerning his lyrics were the ones told by their PR people - they were too lazy to tell the truth about where the songs came from. So let's start talking about them! First of all, the second verse lyrics. Jen, says she got these straight from Jay:
leaving your new found cool
what will you do
sick one oh no
promising your filthiness
something strange
your catalyst
Everything else's up for grabs, but
we've got the gist of it, don't we? So
what's up with this song about a drag
queen and raping me with a stick? Let's
break it down a bit. "You're entering
this machine" - a machine changes things
around. A drag queen is someone who
changed himself to appear as if he is a
she. I think the song is about a very
specific form of personal change - that
of outward appearance only. I believe
that this song is about someone who is
trying to change their life by changing
their appearance, but they aren't doing
the internal work to permanently change
themselves. Hence "she will always be."
But that could also mean that the she,
the drag queen, is a permanent fixture
and will always be. Damn slippery Orgy
lyrics!
This song I can't pin down to a line for
line interpretation. I think I don't
want to deal with the violent sex
imagery. At any rate, I still think the
song is about the lack of permanence of
personal change via appearance. Any
imput out there?
