6 large peeled Granny Smith apples, cut in 1/4 inch slices
5 ripe peeled Bartlett pears, cut in 1/4 inch slices
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons matzo meal
For the topping:
1 1/2 cups matzo meal
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup (1 stick) cold margarine (or butter), chopped small
