Closure

My years with you were happy ones
Though it's over, I won't grieve
For awhile I knew what true love was
And I always knew you'd leave.

As my mind plays back the memories
It took this long to realize
The love we shared was special
And all things eventually die.

When you were speaking words of love
I know they were meant at the time
We had no way of knowing then
Our love would be an uphill climb.

I thank you for the memories
They'll stay inside my heart
I'll keep them there for old time's sake
As today I make my new start.

So now sweetheart, I say good-bye
To our love and then to you
This is the time for closure
For me to go and start anew.
