Shattered Heart

I saw them at the park today
Strolling hand in hand
He had his arm around her waist
It was more than I could stand.

The heart I thought could hurt no more
Started breaking once again
The pain was so unbearable
Knowing I will never win.

When he looked into her eyes
The way he once did mine
I thought I'd die right on the spot
Couldn't stop myself from crying.

Then he bent and kissed her lips
And gently touched her hair
I thought "oh, god how could he
When I'm the one that should be there!"

I couldn't tear my eyes away
I was frozen there it seems
My shattered heart then realized
I was chasing useless dreams.

Along the garden path they walked
His shoulder held her head
I started thinking once again
My shattered heart feels dead.

The heart I thought could feel no more
Started slowly dying
Matched my lonely tear filled eyes
My heart and soul are crying.
