IN LOVING MEMORY OF

KENNETH CHARLES HESS SR
10~11~45 to 02~08~69

May this candle burn forever in honor of Ken.

This page is to honor one of our many heroes who lost his life in the Vietnam War. Ken was a great man who took pride in being in the Army. He was in the 4th Infantry Division with the rank of E-5. His tour of duty began on March 27, 1968 and ended when he gave his life in Pleiku, South Veitnam on February 8, 1969.

At the age of 23, he left behind his wife Judy and 6 month old son Kenny Jr. He was also survived by his mother Elizabeth, sisters Toni and Margie; brother Armand who we all called Bud. He had a younger brother Jerry who was killed when struck by a car. Buddy died in 1993 in an automobile accident. Since Ken's death, there was another sister Margaret. Kenny Jr has a son, another Kenneth Hess to hand down and honor his grandfather's name.

Although I am sure he would have rather known his father, Ken Jr does have the flag that covered his father's casket, his purple heart, and the bullet casings from the 21 gun salute at his grave site.

I hope people will remember all the men and women who were killed in the wars of our nation. Let's not forget the soldiers that never made it back home, who are still prisoner's of war, one's that did make it home only to be their own prisoner of war. Yes, there are many who have been home for years but still wage the battle in their dreams, in their heart, and will for years to come. Love to all of them.
