MEMORIAL WALL

A long wooden box was sent home from 'Nam
His medals and dog tags given up to his Mom
For him giving his life, his son was given a flag
Daddy's come home in a green body bag.

Friends and family came to pay their respects
His wife and his mom are physical wrecks
A closed covered casket, a smiling picture of him
The only smiling face, all others were grim.

The child, too young to understand the whole mess
Never knowing his daddy, he can only guess
What his daddy went thru in that horrible war
People killing people trying to even a score.

The years have gone by, and people still care
For our men and our boys who were in that nightmare
For those who were killed or not found at all
They've erected for them a Memorial Wall.
