The Smile

It seems I always have to have
A smile upon my face
True feelings I hide deep inside
To save myself some grace.

I wish that I could show someone
This hurt that dwells within
Instead of just pretending
Behind this silly grin.

Eyes are windows of the soul
Look deep, guess what you'll see
The hurt, the pain, the lonliness
That dwell inside of me.

Don't let this smile fool you
It's as phony as can be
But it covers up alot of hurt
That only I can see.
