It was abnormally cold for September an unexpected snowstorm had developed and Nadari's pack had decided to move to lower ground early this year. This move was to be the downfall of Nadari for she wasn't due to deliver her pups for several more moons. The snow was blowing hard against them as they left. The movement of the pack was slow and everyone was watching out for the others. All except Nadari, she was having a hard time keeping up with the rest so she told them to go on without her she would catch up. Her mate had been killed in the last hunt, a moose had caught him with his horns and when he hit the ground his neck broke. She missed Thunderbolt so much, it had been hard to keep her spirits up after he died. The pack was wonderful, but it didn't help much, her heart was broken. There was a dreadful emptiness deep inside. She thought about him as she fought against the wind, she was becoming exhausted quickly and sought only to rest. She struggled for hours in the cold wet snow, till finally she came upon a large ledge. She crawled underneath and fell into a deep sleep.
The next six months were very hard for Nadari, the birth of her pups left her in a weakened state and the weather didn't help matters. Only one of her pups were born alive, she was extrememely small and as white as the snow she was born in. Nadari called her WhiteDove, for she was as delicate as a amall white dove and just as cheerful. Nadari struggled to find her pack a few weeks after WhiteDove's birth. Winter had set in early and covered the scent of her family, but she finally found them after many weeks of searching. Her family was happy to see Nadari, but they wanted nothing to do with WhiteDove. They constantly told Nadari to just let the pup die, for she was weak, and would never be an asset to the pack. Nadari would try to ignore the feelings of the rest and continued to care for WhiteDove, but it left her heart broken. Finally seven months after WhiteDoves birth, she just went to sleep one night and never woke up. WhiteDove was blamed for her death, and was driven out of the pack.
Many moons passed before WhiteDove found a place to rest. She was barely alive when she crawled into a small cave, the next month was a struggle between life and death. Her mother came to Dove in her dreams and comforted her. She was suffering from pnemonia and malnurishment, of which both could kill her. Yet she hung on to life by a thread, eating the few mice that would wander close enough. She mourned the loss of her mother and only friend, every night grief stricken she would sing in memory of Nadari. She had to learn hunting skills by herself, and her survival would be difficult. Yet she had the heart of a lioness, she would survive, she would not succumb for her mother had taught her that anyone can survive against all odds. She would not allow the pack to be right, she would show them all.
It was now summer, and she was beginning to think she would never find another pack when she caught the scent of a strange wolf across the river. She was much stronger now, her wounds were just about healed and the hunting had been good as of late. Now would be as good a time to seek them out as any, so she slowly entered the river. WhiteDove was never fond of the water, so she was very hesitant to go into the river, it was particularly rough this day, but she was tired and lonely. Against all of her inner instincts she began to swim the river, the going was tough, and she was pulled under several times. Still she struggled on, she was going further down stream by the minute, she swam harder. She had to get to the other side or she would drown, she struggled for ten miles, when she finally saw a large log jutting out over the river bed. With her last little strength she swam for the log and followed it to shore. She crawled out onto the bank and dropped from exhaustion. That was the beginning of the rest of her life, the moon was full and she heard the howling of a wolf pack not too far away. Timidly she wandered toward the night song, it was a few hours before she was close enough to see them. WhiteDove kept her distance, and watched them for a long time. She watched the alpha female playing with the pups, and the alpha male as he lead the hunts. She always made sure she was unobserved, too scared that she would be rejected as she was from her own pack. It was enough for now to fill her loneliness by just watching them in their daily lives.
The next few months taught Dove what a family truely was, she saw joy, laughter, family unity, loyalty and devotion. Watching from a distance wasn't enough for her now. WhiteDove wanted more, she needed to be part of this family, so one day she got the courage and wandered into the clearing from the forest. The first wolf she met was NiteAngel, who greeted the timid female warmly. She then met Infinity, the Alpha female, and Dreamwolf, the Alpha male, and many other wonderful wolves. They all greeted her with love and acceptance, WhiteDove was happy at last. Yet her heart yearned to be one of them, to belong to the MoonSeeker pack. One day she got the courage to go to the Alpha's and she asked them if she could stay with them, and become part of their family. She was asked if she knew what it was to be part of a wolf pack, if she was ready to give up her individualism. Lowering her head to them with great respect she told them she was, that she needed to be needed, and to be part of a whole. She saw the magic in the air, and knew that the MoonSeekers were gems in the night, that she had found her home at last. That was the end of WhiteDove's lonely existance, oh her life still wasn't easy, but with the help of her new brother StarRider, her mate to be NightRaven, and the rest of her family she would make it through.
