IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT DATED 5/25/01: Due to new time constraints at my job (and others associated with meeting a very special girl) I have no time to keep this website up-to-date. I will continue posting all of my successes online, but from now on I will post them at www.sportscollectors.net. It is a great new community for sharing sports autograph successes. Now that April has arrived, send your requests c/o baseball team addresses. I will be updating my address list soon-- for complete up-to-date listings, check out mlb.com.

HOW TO SEND AUTOGRAPH REQUESTS: Always send a short, polite note to the player. Keep it fairly brief (approx. 1/2 page), and be very polite.

Also, ALWAYS include a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) with accurate postage. (Use your home address as the return address on the SASE as well - that way you will definitely receive the card even if there is a problem with postage.)

Although some players will sign more items than others, it is best to send no more than 2 or 3 items to be signed. Sending more than that is rude and often leads to fewer successes.

Many players will sign again if you mail to them a 2nd time, but it is best to wait at least 1 year between letters to him. Many good players (for example, Tony Gwynn in 1999) stopped signing altogether because they kept getting letters from a few greedy "collectors" every few weeks. Sending frequent, multiple requests like this helps nobody, and hurts the hobby as a whole because now nobody can get his autograph by mail.
