#1: Curt Schilling
This was sent c/o Arizona following his trade there, and arrived back in October after an approximate 2-month wait. I also got an autograph of him in-person this summer while he was still in Philly. Why did my Phils EVER trade him for a bunch of losers?? Oh well...
#2: Tom Glavine
***REVISION*** Since posting this "success", I have been informed that it is in fact an autopen. So, you can all disregard the high ranking for Glavine. (I've never like the Braves anyway...)
#3: Dale Murphy
I got this from a home address in Boston, and apparently I was lucky; the address that I used was reported as being no good anymore just 3 weeks after I got this one back. He was a great player and is a wonderful human being, and should be in the HOF.
#4: Von Hayes
I had given up on this one, but it arrived nonetheless, after a wait of over 2 1/2 years! He was another Phillie from my childhood, and had maybe the widest batting stance of anyone.
#5: Darin Erstad
This was sent c/o the Angels in early summer and returned at season's end. Erstad punted for the Nebraska Cornhusters before becoming one of the best pure hitters in the game. I guess I'll forgive him...
#6: Jermaine Dye
Jermaine Dye is one of the game's most dynamic young players. Even though not many people know about him (playing in KC will do that), he seems to have a great future in front of him!
#7: Jackie Brandt
This is the oldest card that I've ever gotten autographed. It's a 1965 Topps, which I bought off Ebay and promptly sent it to Mr. Brandt for the autograph. He had a productive career in the 50's and 60's, and this card is a keeper!
#8: Randy Wolf
Randy is the best pitching prospect that the Phils have had in quite some time. He's very productive, and should have a great career in the big leagues. He also has all-star stuff, so more people should hear about him in 2001.
#9: Roberto Alomar
Roberto is a perennial all-star, and is still enormously popular now that most people have forgotten the whole spitting-on-the-umpire incident. He's a talented player who will likely be in the hall-of-fame someday. This success was sent c/o the Indians' Spring Training address. (See my main page for a link to all Spring Training addresses!)
#10: Brett Butler
Brett was a speedy leadoff hitter who is probably best remembered for his ability to bunt the ball for a base-hit. He was one of my favorite players when he played for the Dodgers, and I was happy when he signed 2 cards for me c/o his home address in May.
