Kevin walked in and sat down at the end of the bed. He patted her leg and tried to get her to relax.
"What's wrong?" Kevin asked.
"Wrong? Who said anything was wrong?"
"For as long as I can remember, you always snuck into my room and sat on my bed if you were having a problem."
"I did, didn't I?"
"Yeah, so please, tell me."
"I can't."
"Okay, but I'm willing to help and I can't help you if you don't tell me. Think back to Kentucky. Right now, I'm just an average country boy asking his soulmate and best friend in the whole entire universe what's wrong and how I can help."
"Soulmate?"
"I just kinda threw that in 'cause you know I love to make things sound bigger than they are!"
She laughed. "Kev?"
"Yes, sweetie?"
"If I tell you, can you promise not to get mad?"
"Yes, I promise," he said as he reached out to hold her hand. "I've never been mad at you in my whole life."
"Um, okay. Kev, I'm moving to Pittsburgh."
"What?! Pittsburgh, as in Pennsylvania? As in far away from me and Orlando?"
She nodded. "I got a job."
"Aww, Beth you didn't need to. I'm going to miss you so much. How long do you have before you leave?"
"A week."
"Aww, this is so sad."
They hugged. Then thought of all of their great times together. Beth pointed out that they had been away from each other before for long periods of time and they were still friends. Kevin agreed and they both decided that they would make it work.
