Friday rolled around and Nick was estatic. He worked out for AJ to drive them so AJ went to pick Cassie up first since she lived farther from the school than Nick.
AJ pulled up in front of Cassie's house and honked. He waited for a few moments, then Cassie came out.
"That's so rude! Don't ever do that again!" she scolded him as soon as she opened the car door.
"Let's just get this straight. I hate you and wish that I would never have to be anywhere near you again in my life, but, unfortunately, one of the nicest people I know seems to like you and not realize that all you are is a drugged out skank, but I will make him understand soon enough. And let me tell you, pulling up and honking is nothing compared to you waltzing into Dylan's house like you knew him so well and tearing poor Nicky to pieces. THAT is rude!"
"Well you know what! I think that--"
AJ reached over and turned up the radio. "I don't want to hear one more word out of your mouth in my life. To be quite honest, you make me sick."
A few minutes later, they pulled up to Nick's house. AJ maneuvered the car into his driveway and turned off the car. He was about to get out when Nick came running out. He got in and they drove off.
Before they knew it, they pulled into the school parking lot and they all got out. AJ pulled Nick aside and quickly and quietly warned him that Cassie was not who he thought she was, but Nick wouldn't listen. They all went into the gym.
AJ went off and found a group of his friends but always had an eye on Cassie. He noticed that she was beginning to try to distance herself from Nick. Finally she left him. AJ broke away from his group to follow her. He hid behind some people as he watched her get her coat. She picked it up and started reaching into the pockets. She pulled out a bottle and hid it under her arm.
Moments later AJ found her at the refreshments table. She poured almost all of the bottle's contents into the punch, then chugged the remainder. He watched her go off to discard the bottle so AJ went to find Nick.
"Nick, I have to talk to you," AJ said forcefully.
"But I'm having a good time. C'mon, not now. Cassie will be back any minute."
"I know, so we have to be fast. Come outside."
"No, Alex, I told you I'm having a good time and Cassie will be back to find me any moment."
"If you don't come with me right now, I am going to leave you two here to walk home."
"Fine, but this better be fast."
"It will be, now come on."
