.:Ten Thousand Promises-Chapter 20:.
Chapter Twenty

"Polly, Harold, we are only going to ask one more time, and that time is now. How on Earth did you get here?" Nick asked euphemistically.

"Okay, well I'll tell my version, then she can change it and tell her version. Okay. Let's see, where do I begin? At the beginning. I called the Richardsons because I hadn't spoken to them for awhile. So I was talking to Tim for twenty minutes. Then he had to leave for work, so he headed the phone to Jerald. So Jerald talked for as long as he could, but he had a very bad sore throat. That's why he was at Aunt Ann's house and not his own. So then he let me talk to Aunt Ann.

"She told me that Jerald and Tim had been visiting with John, Howie and Polly's brother. Anyway...He had been out to visit an old friend from grade school and dropped in to see Jerald. Then he told John told Jerald who told Tim that y'all were up here for vacation.

"So a week after his visit was when I was talking to Aunt Ann. That was when she told me about y'all being up here. At first I was hurt that my own brother-hint, hint, Brian-didn't even tell me what was going on with him, but I got over it.

"I decided to come out and visit y'all, but I wanted a companion, someone I knew and y'all knew. So I called my cousins, Jerald and Tim. Sorry, Kev, but they'll talk to you soon. They couldn't come. Jerald had his throat and TIm was working.

"I had no idea who to call next. I knew it had to be a sibling from the Backstreet Boys because y'all from *N Sync never really introduced us to your siblings. I kinda know T.J. and Heather, but J.C., you never left me a phone number!

"So I tried to decide between the three remaining. Of course, I did remember that A.J. is an only child. So I moved on to Nick and Howie. B.J., Nick's oldest sibling is eleven years younger than me, so I figures Nick was a bad choice. And that left Howie.

"So I called there and they told me Polly would come. Angela was too shy to come. John had just taken a break from work a week piror to this and couldn't get off again. And well, Caroline, need I say more? It left Polly. And here we are!" Harold said.

"Harold, you always know how to make a long story longer!" Polly laughed. Then an awkward silence fell.
