Rose, exhausted from the escapade the night before stayed in bed for half that Sunday. At about 12:00 PM she got out of bed, sore and tired, and she looked at her burnt leg. She cringed at the charred skin and rushed to the bathroom. Running cold over the wound, Rose gritted her teeth at the stinging pain. After applying soap (which made the stinging even worse), rinsing it more water, and drying the injury, she took out a roll of gauze and wrapped the material snugly around the burn.
She limped a little as she headed into the kitchen to make lunch. She yawned sleepily as she pulled out some cheese, a piece of bread, and salami. As she sliced the cheddar she didn’t notice Comet lurking by her feet. She laid the cheese and salami down on the bread just as the cat begged:
“Can I have a piece of salami?”
“GEEZ!” Rose shrieked, nearly dropping her sandwich. She spun around, her long hair flying. “Don’t scare me like that!”
“Look, all I wanted was salami. Besides, you forgot to braid your hair.”
Rose glanced at her mane of brown tresses, seeing that it was loose and drooping. “I’ll just brush it. I feel like letting it down today.”
She took a piece of salami and playfully teased Comet a little with it before dropping it in front of him. He gnawed at it greedily as Rose poured herself a glass of milk and took her sandwich and her drink to the table. Comet finished the salami and stretched out sleepily, meowing.
Rose had just barely taken a bite when the phone rang. She got up and went to it, taking it and sitting down once more.
“Hello?” she asked, picking up her sandwich.
“Rose! What the heck were you doing last night? You freaked the life out of me!”
Rose sighed as she took another bite. “Hi, Sonny,” she mumbled with her mouth full.
“Seriously, Rose! I was upset! I really do care about you, you know!” Sonny rushed out.
“You’ve only known me for one week, Sonny,” Rose muttered after swallowing the chunk of bread, cheese, and meat.
“Rose! I know you enough that I can be scared. Can’t a guy get any respect?”
“Look, I was frightened for Phoebe. I-I got there and found out she was inside and stayed by the trees until the firefighters got her out,” Rose lied. Actually, she had been frightened for Phoebe.
“You should have stayed with Phoebe’s mom! I didn’t know you were that stupid!”
“You little—“ Rose swore, making Comet jump.
There was a moment of silence and Rose heard a sigh at the other end. “Rose, I’m sorry.”
“What if I said sorry wasn’t good enough?” Rose snapped.
“I didn’t mean it, all right? I really care, ok?” There was a hint of sorrow in his voice, as if he was going to burst into tears.
Rose said softly, “It’s ok, Sonny. I’m sorry too.”
“Look, just don’t do that again.”
“I promise.” Rose knew she would have to break that promise.
“Bye, Rose.”
“Goodbye, Sonny…”
Rose heard the click of Sonny hanging up. She hung up her phone and took another huge bite of sandwich. Comet sat by her chair, grooming. His eyes peered at Rose, who was chewing the wad of food.
“You should take smaller bites,” he instructed.
Rose swallowed the bite of sandwich and glared at him. “Who are you, my mother?”
Comet said nothing and returned to licking his paw and beautifying his ears. Rose rolled her eyes, chewed another mouthful of sandwich, and sipped her milk. She stared out the window, surprised at the contrast if this day and yesterday. Yesterday had been a bright and sunny time despite the terrors of the fire. Today was gray and cold, unlike a normal day in September. Rose shrugged it off and gulped down another chew of bread.
She was setting her plate and cup in the dishwasher when the phone rang again. She rushed to pick it up.
“Hello?”
“Rose, it’s Phoebe.”
“Oh hi Phoebe,” Rose exclaimed, biting her tongue in an effort to keep the topic of the fire locked behind her lips.
“You won’t believe what happened to me! Didn’t you read the newspaper?”
“I don’t get the newspaper,” Rose replied. “I hate reading all the rotten news.”
“Rose!” Phoebe’s voice trembled a little. “I was in my old house, clearing the last of the little trinkets and junk, and all of a sudden it set on fire! I was trapped in there!”
Rose immediately made her voice sound alarmed and awed, trying her best to be a good actress. “Really? How scary! No wonder I saw smoke!”
“Yeah, you better believe it!” Rose’s acting had convinced Phoebe. “But this person, a girl, came and got me out of there. She was kind of strange, wearing a skirt. I didn’t see her, but I knew she had a skirt because I clutched onto it.”
Rose bit her lip. “Who do you think it was?” she asked in an inquisitive tone.
“Who knows?” Phoebe complained. “But she obviously had powers. I jumped out the window and I was levitated by white light. Then I saw this weird white net covering a pile of ashes. Wonder why that was there…”
“How peculiar,” Rose’s voice shook a little as she answered.
“You ok?” Phoebe questioned.
“I’m fine. Just shaken up at the news. Your old house on fire!”
“Luckily everything was brought to our new house,” Phoebe sighed happily.
“Yeah, nothing destroyed,” Rose agreed, for once adding an artistic note of joy in her voice because she meant it.
“Well, just wanted to tell you that. And wanted to know if you wanted to go on a little shopping spree. It’s a lousy day…great for indoor activities. We could go for lunch.”
Not wanting to make Phoebe upset by refusing, Rose happily consented. “Sure. What time?”
“12:30. It’s 12:15 right now. Not a long ways away, actually.”
“It is a little…I have no car—“
“Of course you don’t! You’re 15. So am I, obviously…you can walk, can’t you?”
“It might rain—“ Rose started.
“Doubt it.”
“Oh, all right. Where do we meet?”
“How about the café?”
“Sounds good.”
“Great!”
“See you then.”
“Bye, Rose.”
“See you soon, Phoebe.”
Rose set the phone back on the receiver and rushed upstairs. She changed her nightgown for a comfy pair of black jeans and a short sleeved blue shirt. She tugged her navy blue sweatshirt over her head, brushed her hair, and added a couple of blue hairclips. All of a sudden she saw the silver brooch on her desk. She quickly slid it into her purse, not knowing why, grabbed her purse, and ran back downstairs.
“Going somewhere?” Comet asked as she made sure her wallet was there with the money in it and also her house key and the brooch (why oh why?)
“Yeah. Shopping. Think you can be ok by yourself for a few hours?”
“Long as you leave some food.”
Rose mentally groaned and pulled some cheese out. “Some slices of cheddar, ok? Take a nap or something.”
“Fine then. Have a good time.”
“Bye, Comet.”
Rose locked the door behind her, feeling the cold air sting her face. She wasn’t used to cold September days but forced herself to accept it. She walked down the street towards the busy intersection, which led to the chain of shops. She watched carefully for cars before she crossed. She saw some people with jackets and all walking into stores or sit down on the benches reading the newspaper. The fire story had drawn a lot of interest, especially the details of Phoebe being suspended on white light and the creature that kept adding the flames.
What Rose didn’t see or know was that Serena and her friends knew what the demon was. She didn’t know they had fought youmas like this before. Nevertheless, Rose kept walking, ignoring the people gabbing about the event the day before.
She spotted the café, hurrying to make it there early. It was 12:25 when Rose opened the door, stepping into the warm room. She breathed in the scent of pastries and coffee, looking around to see if Phoebe was there. She was; Phoebe was wearing her scarlet hair in a bun wrapped in a stretchy net, sipping something from a cup while sitting at a table.
“Hello, Phoebe,” Rose greeted, sliding into the seat in front of the redhead.
Phoebe looked up as Rose found out what her friend was drinking. It was herbal tea. Phoebe grinned at Rose.
“Glad you made it.” Phoebe set down her mug and folded her hands elegantly.
“So, do you want a pastry or something?” Rose asked, “Because I’m going to get myself a petite mug of hot chocolate.”
“No…no thanks,” Phoebe refused. “Tea’s fine. Go get yourself the hot chocolate.”
As Rose paid the woman behind the counter, she noticed four people. One was tall with a male appearance and short, sandy blond hair. However, Rose saw soft feminine features in the person’s face. The second person was a pretty girl with beautiful, wavy sea-green hair and a slender figure. The third person was tall with long green hair partly in a bun. The fourth was a small, young girl with purple hair and a frail appearance. They sat in a booth across from where Phoebe was sitting.
Rose took her small cup of hot chocolate, blowing on it gently, and sat back down next to Phoebe. But she couldn’t help listening to the conversation near her, however.
“You read the news, right Amara?” a melodious, soft voice belonging to the sea-green haired girl murmured.
“Yes,” said the shorthaired, boyish girl whose voice was low and male-like. “I have a feeling that I know what caused the fire.”
“I’m worried,” sighed the purple haired girl. “I thought we were done with those things.”
“Apparently not,” groaned the girl with the long green hair. “The forces seem to never have nothing.”
Rose, confused at the last comment, turned back to Phoebe, who was staring into her cup of tea.
“I’m sorry about yesterday,” Rose comforted. “I really had no idea.”
“It’s all right…” Phoebe sighed. Neither she nor Rose noticed that the four girls near them had stopped talking and were listening closely.
“But about that girl…did you see anything else of her besides the white magic and the skirt?” Rose asked. She was trying her best to act curious.
“No,” Phoebe informed. Rose mentally sighed with relief. “I wish I had though.”
Rose drained the last of her hot chocolate and stood up, her purse over her shoulder. “By the way, after shopping I need to call someone.”
“Really?” Phoebe questioned, finishing her tea and standing up as well. “Who?”
“A girl named Amara Teioh about piano; I’m wondering if she can play along with me on flute for the upcoming music festival in November,” Rose notified. This music festival was the new event that involved all sorts of exhibits and performances. Rose had been chosen to participate in it.
All of a sudden the shorthaired girl stood up and walked in front of Rose. Rose tensed under the girl’s gaze but relaxed as the girl spoke.
“I’m Amara Teioh. I couldn’t help overhearing.”
“Oh! You know Sonny Gregorson?”
Amara nodded. “Yes. Kind of odd how we met…we both were engaged in a conversation about motorcycles.”
The aqua-green haired girl stepped to Amara’s side. Amara grinned. “This is my close friend Michelle.”
“Nice to meet you. This is Phoebe Martin,” Rose introduced. Phoebe smiled shyly.
“I’d be glad to accompany such a lovely girl like you at the festival,” Amara continued. Rose blushed and thought she saw Michelle scowl. “Yes indeed…oh! Michelle is performing there.”
“I play violin,” Michelle added, her frown replaced with a small smile.
“How cool,” a perplexed Rose smiled back.
“Maybe we could meet a week from now when you’ve got plans for the music,” Amara suggested.
“Sure. Sounds like a plan to me,” Rose agreed. “Um…who are your other friends?”
“Oh? The girl with the long green hair is Setsuna. The 12-year-old is Hotaru.”
Rose waved gently at them. They both smiled.
“Would you call me when you’re ready?” Amara asked.
“Sure thing, A-Amara,” Rose stammered, confused at the girl’s behavior. “My name is Rose…Rose Opal.”
“Great to meet you, Rose. I’ll see you...at least I hope to,” Amara flirted playfully. Rose turned red again. Michelle pretended not to notice. Amara turned to her friends.
“We’re ready, Amara,” Hotaru piped up. “Except Setsuna isn’t done with her green tea.”
“I can drink it while walking, Hotaru,” Setsuna replied softly.
“Not, Setsuna,” Michelle urged, sending a Look in Amara’s direction. “Let’s stay a little longer.”
“Well, we have to leave,” Phoebe informed.
“See you!” Rose called, still blushing, following Phoebe out.
“We’ll catch you when the time comes,” Setsuna answered for the whole group.
The sun was peeking out, allowing a bit of warmth. Rose felt a chill, though, when she thought of the girls. They were somehow familiar, especially that girl named Setsuna…
“Rose! Hey, Rose! Snap out of it! We’re at the shopping center!”
“Huh…?” Rose broke out of her trance. “I’m sorry, Phoebe. I’m just thinking.”
“Well…don’t think too much or you’ll walk into the building,” Phoebe giggled, swinging the door open.
Rose grinned. “Yeah.”
The two girls stepped into the center. The combined noises of talking, rustling of papers, and shoes clopping on the tiled floor filled Rose’s ears. Smells from the restaurants permeated the air. Phoebe stopped, shoving her purse further up her shoulder, and looked around.
“So where to, Rose?” she asked. “The Chocolate shop? Videos? Jewelry?”
Rose’s hazel eyes were glued on a certain place. “I’d like to go to the bookstore, Pho.”
Phoebe grinned at the nickname and at Rose’s suggestion. “Maybe I’ll fine some new bestsellers.”
Rose and Phoebe stepped into the shop. It was quiet; the only noise was the cashier typing in a price for the magazine a teenage boy with glasses and dark brown hair was buying. Rose felt her feet carry her past bookshelves. Her eyes scanned the signs: Biographies, Bestsellers, and Magazines…
Rose stopped at the Fiction Center. Fantasy books, realistic fiction tales, and mysteries lay before her eyes. Rose loved the sight of books. She walked up to the shelf looking around. Phoebe had found a book (and fast too) and was curled up on one of the beanbag chairs. Rose gazed at the titles and her eyes rested on a book with brown binding. It gold letters it read: The Myths of the Moon.
Rose smiled and pulled the book from its place on the shelf. Her fingers ran over the leather cover, opened the book and touching the soft pages. Rose sat in blue beanbag chair close to Phoebe and could almost smell the dusty, familiar scent of the hardback. She turned the pages, making her way to the first chapter. She was soon engrossed in tales of Moon Princesses and Kings, ancient myths of how the light shone…
When Rose reached her tenth story, a hand tapped her on the shoulder. Rose lifted her eyes and saw a girl standing in front of her. The girl had short blue hair, knowing blue eyes, and a nice figure. She was wearing a blue dress and had reading glasses on.
“I’m sorry, but I was wondering if you’ve seen the book Mysteries of Fort Lamon,” the girl let Rose know in a quiet, shy voice.
Rose set down her book, her finger marking her spot, and replied:
“I’ve read it before; I actually own in. I think it’s in that Mystery section, under the Hs.”
“You like reading too?” the blue-haired girl inquired.
Rose let out a soft, gentle laugh.
“Yes, I do. I’m quite the bookworm, though not a lot of people know it,” Rose whispered.
“Oh!” The girl had caught sight of the book Rose was holding. “Myths of the Moon. That’s quite a good book. We seem to share a common interest.” The girl, as if surprised by her outburst, turned red.
“Yes, indeed we do.” Rose reached into her purse and found a scrap of paper. Sticking into the book, she marked the spot. When she saw Phoebe still engrossed in the bestseller, she turned to the blue-haired girl and said, “My name is Rose Opal.”
“My name is Amy Anderson,” the girl responding, shaking Rose’s hand politely.
“I’ve seen you before…do you go to my senior high school?” Rose questioned.
“I think I do. I’m a first year as well. I think I saw you at Juuban Junior High too.”
“Are you one of Serena’s friends?” Rose burst out.
Amy seemed surprised. “Serena Tsukino? I am. How do you know her?”
“Her boyfriend Darien Shields introduced her to me. You see, I was very sick and Darien took me in,” Rose summarized.
“Darien is so kind,” Amy sighed. “He’ll even eat Serena’s cookies, even if they make him ill.”
“Well…that is nice of him,” Rose agreed.
“Hey, Rose,” Phoebe suddenly said in a loud whisper. “We better get moving.”
“Ok, Phoebe.” Rose stood up and faced Amy again. “I’ll see you around, then?”
A bright smile shone on Amy’s face. “Of course.”
“Goodbye, Amy. Nice meeting you.”
“Bye, Rose.”
Rose went to the cashier to buy Myths of the Moon and swung the bag carelessly as she and Phoebe headed for a clothes shop. Phoebe sat down on a bench abruptly, and Rose had to screech to a halt.
“Sorry, it’s just that my feet hurt,” Phoebe winced. “I’m sorry, they get sore easily. I ran a few times around the track at school on Friday.”
“It’s all right, Phoebe,” Rose cooed.
“Oh, by the way,” Phoebe remembered, “Who was that girl you were talking to?”
“That was Amy Anderson. She’s nice.”
“I’ve heard she’s a genius and wants to be a doctor.”
Rose laughed. “You seem to hear a lot from people.”
“Yeah, you could say that,” Phoebe approved, giggling.
But Rose was feeling odd. It was that same feeling she had felt with Setsuna and her friends. She felt like she knew Amy from somewhere else before…
Amy walked down the halls away from the bookstore, the book Mysteries of Fort Lamon in her hand. She had a strange feeling about Rose Opal, the girl she had just met. Something wasn’t right in Japan, especially about that fire…
Something made a beeping noise in Amy’s pocket. She pulled out what looked like a communicator and opened it. A face of a girl with long black hair appeared. Amy immediately was filled with worry. Rei Hino never called unless it was an emergency.
“Rei? What is it?”
“Amy, there’s something wrong. Where are you?” Rei asked frantically.
“I’m at the shopping center!” Amy informed hurriedly.
“Get the heck out of there! There’s—“
There was the sound of smashing glass and Amy shrieked, seeing the mall’s window crashing into a bunch of pieces. The wall exploded with a mysterious light and a dragon like creature burst in. Lightning bolts flew from its piercing red eyes. The whole shopping center was in a panic.
Amy shut off her communicator and reached into her pocket, pulling out a blue wand with a star on it. She cried:
“Mercury Star Power!”
Surrounded by stars and moons, Amy turned into the Sailor Senshi of the ice planet…Sailor Mercury!
“Halt, you beast!” she shouted at the dragon. “I am Sailor Mercury, the Senshi of water! I will fight for what’s right! Splash some water on yourself and repent!”
The dragon turned and glared at the Senshi clad in blue. It roared and spoke:
“Sailor Mercury, huh? The name sounds familiar…you are an ally of Sailor Moon’s!” The dragon flapped its wings. “I must capture you!”
Sailor Mercury placed her hands on her hips, looking defiant. “For what purpose?”
“My mistress commands it! Now surrender!”
All of a sudden rain began pouring down on Sailor Mercury. Most of you would say, “Hey, big deal,” but this rain was sharper than knives, piercing down onto Sailor Mercury’s body. She cried out in pain.
“Shine Aqua Illusion!” she cried.
A wave of water sprouted out from behind her. To her horror, all it did was merge with the raindrops and make them stronger. The beating rain hit her body. She moaned, knowing her powers were useless.
“Why does your mistress want me so?” she screamed.
“Pearl demands the Sol Scouts!” the dragon replied. “Now surrender or DIE!”
A lightning bolt zoomed at top speed at Sailor Mercury. The electrical power coursed through her body. She shrieked with pain, falling to her knees. The water zapped her as she lay there, knowing she had lost.
Rose heard the cracking of glass and concrete. She and Phoebe had explored the clothes store, finding nothing. Rose heard someone call out. She instinctively grabbed Phoebe’s hand and ran, rushing to the source of the noise.
“Rose, what are you doing?” Phoebe demanded.
Rose paid no attention. She stopped, gaping at the sight in front of her. A girl in a blue fuku like the one Rose had worn as Sailor Earth was standing there. Her hair was short and blue, and she stood her ground but let out wails of anguish. Rose gasped at the sight of glinting raindrops pouring from the ceiling and a blue dragon standing there.
“Why does your mistress want me so?” the girl screamed.
“Pearl demands the Sol Scouts!” the dragon roared. “Now surrender or DIE!”
Rose watched helplessly as a lightning bolt shot at the girl and shocked her. The uniformed lass fell to her knees and lay there, moaning.
“What is that thing?” Phoebe shrieked.
“I don’t know…” Rose murmured. But she had come to decision; she had recognized the girl. “That girl seems to be the one I met in the bookstore, Phoebe.”
“How?” Phoebe cried.
“Listen, Phoebe…I-I lied to you. I’m sorry. I knew all along about the fire.” Phoebe stared, partly from surprise and partly from anger. “I had to fib, Phoebe, to protect my powers. I was the girl that saved you from the fire. I was the girl with magic. I was there. But Phoebe, I sense an aura around you. Maybe I can bring that aura back to life.”
Rose stepped forward and undid her necklace. Holding it in her hand, she called, “I won’t allow a demon to hurt another human!”
The girl in the rain turned her head and screamed faintly, “Rose, don’t come near! I am Sailor Mercury, and my powers are useless! Run, I tell you!”
“I can’t run and leave you here, Amy! I know who you are! But I’m here to help! Earth…Life Force…Power!”
The black skirt appeared. The tiara stretched across her forehead. The white bows tied. And Rose Opal was transformed into the Sailor Scout of Justice…Sailor Earth!
Phoebe stared in astonishment. The dragon growled angrily and bellowed:
“Who are you?”
“Who are you?” Sailor Earth snapped. “I am a Sailor Scout, one of the guardians of this planet! The weather comes on its own…it should not allowed to be controlled by an evil youma like you! I am Sailor Earth! And in the name of the Earth, I shall punish you!”
Sailor Mercury gazed weakly at Sailor Earth, her eyes wide. No…it couldn’t be. Tuxedo Mask was basically Sailor Earth…
Phoebe raced forward and felt the rain. She yelled out of pain and ran out. “Sailor Earth, don’t go! The rain feels like needles and knives!”
Sailor Earth turned to Phoebe. “Phoebe, I found something. Something that I think belongs to you.” She reached down where her purse lay and pulled out the silver brooch. “Here.” She placed it in Phoebe’s hands. Phoebe stared as Sailor Earth’s gloved hands covered her own, holding them tightly. “I want you to take this brooch and say, ‘Phoenix Creation Transform.’ Say it with all your heart. We alone can stop this.”
Sailor Earth removed her hands and stepped back. Phoebe attached the brooch to her bodice, held out her arms and cried:
“Phoenix…Creation…Transform!”
Immediately she was thrust into a red pattern of fire and firebirds. A pillar of phoenixes towered around her, and a white top appeared. She ran forward and stopped, a fiery orange-red skirt trailing behind her. She raced her hands and did a pirouette, gloves with orange-red colored tops stretched onto her hands and two yellow bows forming on her front and behind and two red shoes appearing on her feet. Her bun undid itself and her red hair flowed past her shoulders. She winked, and a tiara with a red gem slid onto her head. Two red earrings dangled from her ears. She turned and posed like a ballerina, the firebird appearing behind her.
“Not another one!” the dragon roared.
“There is another one, dragon-fiend!” the new scout yelled. “Don’t mess with the best, I always say! I am Sailor Phoenix, bringing the message of hope and new life! I won’t allow you to take that away! In the name of the firebird of Earth, I shall punish you!”
“Let’s get you out of there, Sailor Mercury,” Sailor Earth called.
The two scouts rushed into the flood of rain. Piercing drops fell onto their skin, stinging their hands and arms and legs. But they kept running towards Sailor Mercury, who was about to faint. Sailor Phoenix scooped the Senshi of Mercury in her strong arms and lifted her up, racing out of the storm.
“This will not do!” the dragon roared. The raindrops immediately ceased, but the dragon opened its giant wings and storm clouds began twisting above him threateningly. Sailor Phoenix saw Sailor Earth rush towards them.
“I can do this!” Sailor Phoenix declared, setting Sailor Mercury down and running to the dragon.
“You dare challenge the power of sky and storms?” the dragon laughed.
“I do. Phoenix Resurrection!”
Red light swarmed behind Sailor Phoenix and a fiery phoenix emerged out of a tower of flames. It spread its wings and let out a long, loud cry. It circled around its summoner and flew straight on at the dragon. Its claws ripped at the dragon’s scales and flamed its eyes. The dragon roared out of frustration and pain.
“My turn!” Sailor Earth declared. She raced up next to Phoebe. “Earth Holy Spark!”
The white light zoomed into Sailor Earth’s fist. She punched and the stars flew out just as they had on the night of the fire. They rushed into the dragon’s scales, sending him into a frenzy. He bellowed and began sending out lightning bolts and storm clouds, anything that could hurt them.
“Sailor Mercury! Come on and help if you feel up to it!” Sailor Earth called.
Sailor Mercury slowly rose to her feet and stumbled towards the dragon. She fell and let out a low wail. “I can’t…I’m too weak…”
“We’ll beat him for ya!” Sailor Phoenix announced, slamming her fist into her palm.
“So we shall!” Sailor Earth agreed. She held her hands in front of her and shouted, “Earth…White Magic…Total Destruction!”
Energy began flowing into Sailor Earth’s hands, turning into a globe of light. She concentrated, sweat pouring down her face. The globe grew larger and larger until Sailor Earth swung her arms back and sent them back forward like a baseball bat. The ball of power soared at the youma and hit him straight on.
There was a rumbling sound. The dragon let out what sounded like a low moan and began to crumble. It shrank down, its scales dissolving into powder. It slowly shrunk into the ground until all that was left was a pile of dust at Sailor Earth’s feet.
Sailor Phoenix rushed over to the injured Sailor Mercury, her red hair flying out behind her. While Sailor Phoenix was helping Sailor Mercury up, Sailor Earth spotted something in the dust. She pulled it out and examined it. It was a sky-blue pen (transformation pen, to be exact) with a little lightning bolt on it. Sailor Earth gaped at it; she now knew what was going on. There were more Sailor Scouts besides her and Sailor Phoenix! All she had to do was search for them…
Sailor Phoenix had Sailor Mercury over her shoulder. The blue-haired Senshi looked frantically around.
“I think we know who we are, and we better hurry before the people get back, so let’s de-transform,” Sailor Phoenix suggested.
“Can you put me down?” Sailor Mercury asked in a small voice.
“I personally would like to ask you some questions,” Sailor Earth replied. “But put her down, Sailor Phoenix, and let her change back.”
There was the sound of people coming back in. The three girls rushed off in different directions. When they came back, no suspicion was about them. They were just three ordinary girls: Rose Opal, Phoebe Martin, and Amy Anderson.
Rose grabbed her purse and slipped the transformation pen in. She also grabbed her bag with the book. Before Amy could say thank you or anything, Phoebe and Rose had raced off. Amy looked after them. She grabbed her communicator and dialed in a number. Serena’s face soon appeared.
“All the scouts are gathered at Rei’s, wondering about you,” she cried. “What happened?”
“That’s it. What happened is going to be the key to what’s going to happen,” Amy rushed out. “Stay at Rei’s. Boy, have I got news.”
