Hot Wheels SUTC Passion

This Hot Wheels Passion was made to celebrate the opening of a joint venture with Mattel and the Shanghai Toy Company, located in China. I only know of 2 of these cars that made it back to the United States. I was told that only a VERY few of these Passions were made and that ALL of them were handed out on the day of dedication in June of 1999. This is definitely a VERY RARE Hot Wheel car.

Mattel "Hot Wheels" Employee MBK Camaro

MBK Camaro-Front Package View

MBK Camaro-Back Package View

MBK Camaro-Side View of Car

MBK stands for Mattel Bangkok. This special, and EXTREMELY RARE Hot Wheels Gold Camaro was produced to celebrate the opening of the MBK Plant which opened in June of 1998 in Thailand. This plant was formerly a Matchbox Plant. As you can tell this car is packaged in a 30th Anniversary type package. The back of the package is definately one of the most decorative packages Hot Wheels has ever made! Most of these cars were given to Upper Management Employee's at the MBK Plant with a couple making it back to the U.S. for some of the Mattel Top Brass. Let me tell you a little secret about management employees overseas. They have no idea what these cars are worth to us CRAZY Hot Wheel Collectors on the outside. Most employees go home and give these cars to their children to play with. Can you believe this?!?! I desperatly tried to get a Mattel employee overseas to adopt me after seeing his childs toy-box full of prototype and one of a kind, Hot Wheel Cars. I don't think there was a single regular issue car in this kids whole toy-box full of cars! Needless to say, I was unsuccessful in the adoption attempt. When trying to come up with a production figure on this car I was just told "not many". I know this isn't much help, but I only know of less than 6 that exist here in the U.S., with most of them belonging to Mattel employees. Roof of car has "MBK Dedication June 1998" on it, Hood of car has "Mattel Bangkok Limited" and the Hot Wheels logo on it, and the back spoiler has 2 small Hot Wheel logos on it. Car also has some Tai writing on it in 3 places. Inside blister reads "Dedication for MBK Mattel Bangkok Limited June 1998".

Mattel "Hot Wheels" Employee Happy Birthday Cars!!

Chevelle
Viper
Countach
This is where the Happy Birthday Cars originate from.

Here's what I can tell you about the Hot Wheels Birthday Cars.
These cars were made for Management Birthday gifts. Very few are made. The person in charge of making them stated that around 200 are made. These cars are sometimes given to other prominent V.I.Ps besides Mattel Management. I was told Vice President Al Gore was given a few cars and among them was a Birthday Car (I bet Mr. Gore gave them to one of his children). 1997 was the HB Viper, 1998 the HB Countach, and 1999 the HB 1970 Chevelle SS.
The picture of the Hot Wheels plant was taken inside the 12 foot wall and security fence that surrounds the plant. This picture shows one of the loading docks where the cases of fresh Hot Wheels are loaded on a truck and shipped out.
There is no possible way for you to get inside this place unless you work there or have been invited to visit. Security is unbelievable!! When your in the toy business you can't have your secrets getting out. No pictures are permitted inside this building by anyone! I wish I could show some of the Hot Wheel manufacturing processes and how clean and nice the working conditions are at Mattel, but right now I can't. I am working on it though!

Mattel "Hot Wheels" Employee MVOA Bus!!

There seems to be some misconceptions over this Hot Wheels Bus. MVOA stands for MATTEL VENDERS OPERATION ASIA. A stands for Asia not Anniversary. There were approximately 100 made, not 12 or 20. The Graphics on this bus are WATER SLIDE DECALS, not stickers or tampos. I hope this helps clear up some of the misconceptions on this little VW GEM!
