I Could Not Ask For More

The rain hadn't let up for hours. It was the kind of rain that had a mystical way about it. The kind of rain that could comfort and soothe the mind...it was the kind of rain that when a day like this came, you want to snuggle with the person you love, taking in every moment with them that you could. So was the day for DJ and Chris. It wasnt every day that they had this kind of quality time to spend. Quality time was difficult these days. DJ knew it. Chris knew it. Their relationship had its ups and downs, but it was solid. No matter what, DJ was going to support Chris in his decisions, and love him, no matter what turns his career may bring.

Chris ran his fingertips up and down DJ's arm, lying on his side, staring into her eyes, "Hey baby," he said quietly.

"Hmmm?" DJ's eyes were warm, and the love that lived inside of them was Chris's comfort....she was his refuge from it all. He smiled at her.

"What would happen if you left me?" He looked at her innocently, and DJ traced the question in her mind, thinking that Chris was beginning to speak his nonsense again.

She repeated his question aloud and continued, "I wouldn't leave you, and what kind of question is that," she giggled just a bit, smoothing a hand down his cheek. Chris closed his eyes and moved his face just a bit, to feel her hand caress his skin.

Not opening his chocolate brown eyes, he smiled, "I love you." Still, after having heard those words from Chris a countless number of times, each time felt like the first....butterflies in DJ's stomach, the flushed look on her face. Chris's love always seemed fresh, real, and that was something that most people could only hope for.

"I Love you, too, Kirkpatrick," DJ smiled, with a bit of a laugh. Chris's eyes opened, and he leaned in slowly for a kiss. Oh how all of the critics were wrong, that Chris was the goofy one...the one without all of the moves. He had it all, because when Chris kissed DJ, she seemed to always forget everything.

His lips touched hers, warm and soft, and DJ could feel herself melt into him. There was a magic in their kisses, a magic that made every moment they were apart worth it. Moments like this. He pulled away from her to find her eyes.

"There they are," he grinned and DJ looked at him with question.

"Your eyes," he whispered with an infectious grin, "I wait all the time, whether I'm touring or just making random appearances, these eyes," Chris's eyes watered just a bit and continued, "I can hide here if I want to. You know what I mean?" DJ felt her heart skip a beat. Chris was always open with her, but this time, it was different, and she felt it. She could feel him opening parts of himself that he never had before.

DJ knew that Chris had something to say...she could see that he needed to open his heart like never before. She stared into his eyes, running her hands through his hair, holding him, "It's alright, baby, what?" she asked of her love.

"When I need you, you're there...you're like this unbelievable angel or something," Chris was never good with expressing all of his emotions, but it came a time that he felt he had to, "I love you so much...I don't know if you realize," he grabbed a hold of her hand, linking her fingers with his.

"Chris," a tear trickled down her cheek, "I love you, too...with my whole heart," she leaned into him and he held onto his angel tight.

"Alright," Chris laughed in desperation to lighten the mood, "I have to know," he laughed slyly. DJ looked at him, not imagining what he would possibly say.

"What?" she laughed, seeing the look in his eyes...she knew he was up to something.

"When's the wedding, Mrs. Kirkpatrick?" he chuckled, tickling her just a bit, placing kisses on her...."Huh huh?" He smiled and laughed at the sight of her laughter and happiness. Nothing in the world meant more to him.
