Chapter One

I ran...I ran as fast as I could. I ran away from that place, away from my life, away from him. I ran through the hard, cold rain, through the dark, slippery alleys, to what? To a salvation? Not quite. But I did run, I did get away. Somehow I did, though I didn’t think I could. Someone told me a long time again that life is full of challenges, and only few survive. I think I’m one of the few.

Flashback:

“Why can’t we tell anyone?” I asked as I sat down at the vanity. I watched him get dressed through the mirror as I brushed my hair.

“We’ve been through this before, Lily, and every time I tell you the same damn thing,” he said as he stood up from the bed. He straightened his shirt and ran a hand through his hair.

“Then why do you still come here every night, day after day?” I questioned as I looked as myself. I had on a red, slinky, silk nightgown. I had made sure I looked good tonight, almost irresistible because I knew we had to have this talk.

“Do I even have to answer that?”

“Fuck you. Get the hell out! I never want to see you again!” I yelled out, frustrated at him, at me, at this situation. I stood up from the chair and whirled around to face him.

“You don’t mean that,” he said with a smirk, “you know you’ll miss me.”

“No I won’t,” I protested as he came closer to me and wrapped his arms around me.

“Yes you will. I know you too well,” he said and kissed me on my lips.

“Then will you break up with her?” I asked innocently.

Almost immediately he let go of me and drew away. “How can you ask of such a thing? How can you be so inconsiderate? How can you be such a bitch?”

“Excuse me? I’m not a bitch, but I can be. I’ll tell everyone who you come to when you need fucked,” I spat out at him.

He came closer to me and pushed me against the vanity, almost knocking it over. He had a tight, firm grasp of me wrists and said, “Why are you like this tonight?”

“I don’t know,” I said quietly, “please let go of me.”

He released his grip and looked at me. “You know that I love you Lilliana,” he said gently and caressed my cheek, “it’s just that sometimes you make me mad.”

“I’m sorry,” I said.

He didn’t say anything, he just stared. His blue eyes, dark and cold. I shifted uncomfortably in his gaze until he spoke, “You better not give me anymore trouble. Just be happy where you are.” He then kissed me hard on my lips and bit down hard on my lower lip. I could taste the blood almost immediately.

I screamed out in pain and watched him laugh at what he did. “Now this will be a reminder to you to not be so difficult,” he said and laughed again. He kissed me again, but not so rough and said goodnight. I watched as he left and brought my hand to my swollen lip. This will be asked about tomorrow.

End of Flashback:

I should have known then that we shouldn’t have been together. He wanted to keep me as his little secret. Well, now he wanted me gone and that’s exactly what I’m doing. I stopped running though. I was far enough away. I stopped and went into a coffee shop. I walked into their bathroom and looked into the mirror. My mascara was running down my cheeks so I took some paper towel and wiped it off. Though, I couldn’t get rid of the bruises and the scares. Those will take time to heal.

I walked out of the bathroom and sat down at a booth. I order some coffee and looked down at the table. It reminded me of the white car I was seated in that brought me to my brother. The car that brought me to hell...

“Joey!” I yelled as I got out of the car. I ran over to him and gave him a big hug.

“It’s so good to see you. I’ve missed you,” he said as he hugged me back.

“I’ve missed you too,” I said as we pulled apart.

“I’m really glad that you’ve decided to finally visit me,” he said as we walked into the large hotel.

“I know, I know,” I said with a laugh. I think I’m gonna really love being on tour with him.

It’s been an hour since I got here and already I’m alone. Joey had to go to sound check and thought that it would be best if I stayed here. I looked around the room. There was nothing to do, I swear. I pulled out a book I was reading before and curled up on the bed.

I looked over at the clock and it flashed in big, bright, red letters: 2 am. I must have fallen asleep as I rubbed my eyes. I sat up and watched as the book fell to the floor. I heard loud noises outside my door and decided to investigate.

I peered out my door and saw some people entering the door across from mine. It seemed there was a party going on. I shut my door and went back to bed Unknowingly I’ll find out whose party that was.
